Outline

Rapidly (exponentially) growing economy

– Huge demand for products + services + automation

– Indigenous invention => 1/8 of import cost

–What is required???? – More engineers to build innovative solutions

Education is core + Educational infrastructure +

LAUNCHING LABS AND STUDENT PROJECTS

WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS

e-Yantra Robotics Teacher competition

INFRASTRUCTURE SET-UP

• Organized at a Nodal Center – for nominated teams from each college

• e-Yantra conducts workshops and provides support

• College commits the funds and space

• e-Yantra provides a starter Robots kit and expert advice to set up a Robotics lab

• college provides its teams with required infrastructure

• e-Yantra conducts the competition and provides support to teams during the competition.

e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI) Focus: Hands on training for Teachers across various

regions of the country in a scalable manner through Nodal Centers (NCs).

Scalability & sustainability:

Student projects require trained

teachers and infrastructure

Both established in colleges in 4

months – making each

college self sufficient!!!

What we need:

•Colleges as Nodal Centers

•e-Yantra labs in Colleges

• Pilot phase 16 Mumbai University colleges inaugurated Robotics labs on April 5, 2013

• Expansion phase

35 colleges inaugurated Robotics labs on April 11, 2014 in the following regions: – Delhi – Shimoga, Karnataka – Ichalkaranji, Maharashtra – Chandigarh, Punjab – Alandi, Maharashtra

65 colleges are participating in the current phase of eYRTC-2014:

– Chennai, Coimbatore Salem, Trichy, Tamil Nadu – Noida – Kolkata

Targeted number of colleges: 100 in one year 500 in the next two years

Current status

Current Status

16 labs in Mumbai – Pilot Phase (5th, April 2013)35 labs across 5 regions – Phase-1 (14th, April 2014)

63 labs across 6 regions – Phase-2 (ongoing )
