Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart
W&C #249
Spirit of God, descend upon my heart Wean it from earth thro’ all its pulses move, Stoop to my weakness, mighty as Thou art, And make me love Thee as I ought to love.
Hast Thou not bid us love Thee, God and King?
All, all Thine own soul, heart and strength and mind, I see Thy cross there teach my heart to cling;
O let me seek Thee, and O let me find.
Teach me to feel that Thou are always nigh; Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.
Teach me to love Thee as Thine angels love, One holy passion filling all my frame:
The baptism of the heav’n descended Dove My heart an altar and Thy love the flame.

Benediction
Postlude
Pentecost symbolizes a new beginning, with the unleash-ing of the Holy Spirit. In celebrating Pentecost, the church expresses gratitude for Christ fulfilling his prom-ise to send “another counsellor” (John 14:16); cele-brates the work of the Spirit in renewing all of creation; professes confidence in the Spirit’s power. For its mis-sion; and grows in awareness of its calling to reach the world with the gospel.”

O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing
Carl Glaser/Charles Wesley
O for a thousand tongues to sing My great Redeemer’s praise
The glories of my God and King
The triumphs of His grace
My gracious Master and my God Assist me to proclaim
To spread through all the earth abroad
The honors of Thy name
Jesus! The name that charms our fears That bids our sorrows cease
‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears
‘Tis life, and health, and peace.
Glory to God and praise and love Be ever, ever giv’n
By saints below and saints above

Holy Spirit, Living Breath Of God Keith Getty | Stuart Townend
Holy Spirit living Breath of God Breathe new life into my willing soul
Let the presence of the risen Lord
Come renew my heart and make me whole Cause Your word to come alive in me
Give me faith for what I cannot see Give me passion for Your purity
Holy Spirit breathe new life in me
Holy Spirit come abide within
May Your joy be seen in all I do Love enough to cover ev'ry sin
In each thought and deed and attitude
Kindness to the greatest and the least Gentleness that sows the path of peace
Turn my strivings into works of grace Breath of God show Christ in all I do
Holy Spirit from creation's birth Giving life to all that God has made
Show Your power once again on earth Cause Your church to hunger for Your ways
Let the fragrance of our pray'rs arise
Lead us on the road of sacrifice That in unity the face of Christ
May be clear for all the world to see

Responsive Call To Worship
(Acts 2)
Leader: When the day of Pentecost came, they
were all together in one place.
People: Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a
violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Leader: They saw what seemed to be tongues of
fire that separated and came to rest on each of
them.
People: All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit
enabled them.
Leader: Now there were staying in Jerusalem
God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.
People: Amazed and perplexed, they asked one
another, “What does this mean?” Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too
much wine.”
Leader: Then Peter stood up with the Eleven,
raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me
explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s
only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spo-
ken by the prophet Joel:
People: “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters
will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your
old men will dream dreams.
Leader: Even on my servants, both men and wom-en, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they
will prophesy.
All: And everyone who calls on the name of the
Lord will be saved.”
Shout To The North Martin Smith
Men of faith, rise up and sing Of the great and glorious King;
You are strong when you feel weak,
In your brokenness complete. Chorus
Shout to the north and the south, Sing to the east and the west:
Jesus is Saviour to all,
Lord of heaven and earth.
Rise up women of the truth, Stand and sing to broken hearts,
Who can know the healing pow’r
Of our awesome King of love. Bridge
We’ve been through fire, we’ve been through rain;
We’ve been refined by the pow’r of His name.
We’ve fallen deeper in love with You, You’ve burned the truth on our lips.
Rise up church with broken wings;
Fill this place with songs again,
Of our God who reigns on high: By His grace again we’ll fly.

“The ministry of the Holy Spirit is, as it has always been, to make Jesus and all that God has given us in Jesus (sometimes called “his benefits” present to us; and to make us, in all our humble and naked folly and need, but also
in our faith and longing present to Jesus.”
Samuel Wells and Abigail Kocher, Shaping the Prayers of the People: The Art of Intercession.
