CHAPTER ACTVITIES
INVITATIONAL SESSION
Date: January 22, 2016
Attendence: 40 participants
This first event intend to bring new members to the chapter.
The speakers, senior members and former memebers of the
chapter, talked about their experiences. Between the attendants
were present stundents of diferent degrees and some graduate
students.

6TO FORO DE DIVULGACION CIENTIFICA Y TECNOLOGICA
Date: February 5, 2016
Attendence: +100 participants
As part of the 6to Foro de Divulgacion Cientifica y
Tacnologica in the FCFM, the chapter made an appearence
between the programmed conferences.

OPTICAL WORKSHOPS 2016
Date: March 7 – March 11, 2016
Attendance: 102 participants
The Optical Workshops are now a semestral event. Lasting a
week, remarkable speakers talked about there actual or recent
projects. Between this speakers was Areeya Chantasri, presenting
her work published in Nature.

PHOTON 2016
Date: April 19, 2016
Attendance: 20 members, +100 participants
The Photon 2016 was an educational congress involving
high school students. It was an opportunity for our memebers to
develope their speaking abilities, teaching kids basic science
throughout posters, conferences and outreach games.

SCIENCE AT THE MOVIES
Date: August 29, 2016 & September 29, 2016
Attendance: 15 participants
We arranged the projection of a science fiction movie with
the purpose of a later discussion of the science-based facts that
are displayed in the movie. The movies projected were Event
Horizon (1997) by director Paul W. S. Anderson and Interstellar
(2014) by Christopher Nolan.

OPTICAL WORKSHOPS 2016
Date: October 24 – October 28, 2016
Attendance: 108 attendants and 10 speakers
These were the second Optical Workshops of the year.
During one week, 10 speakers give lectures about various math
and physics topics.

INSTANT 2016
Date: November 14, 2016
Our last activity of the year. This is a photography contest.
The topic is “Science and the academic life” trying to show the
perks of being student. This contest will hold 3 winners and a
couple of honorific mentions, the five best picture will be
displayed on the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of UANL in a
permanent gallery hoping this will grow over the years.

2017 PROYECTION
For 2017 have some important events for the first semester
of the year. Some of these are:
Invitational Session 2017. In this invitational session we
plan bringing food trucks, hopping their looks help us attract
people so we can invite them to the chapter. Plus, this can
be a great way for getting founds for our next big activities.
The initial inversion for this event is easily covered by our
spare balance.
SOASE 2017. Simposio de Óptica Aplicada en
Sustentabilidad y Energía. We plan to bring travel lecturers
for this event as we have done it before.
Photon 2017. A bigger event than the last photon, with
more attendance and original experiments.
Horizon 2017, study trip. A new event. Taking advantage
our nearness to Texas, we can make a study trip to the
Johnson Space Center in Houston. Once there, we can also
make networking whit the University of Houston student
chapter.
