PP32 Roof and Wall Cladding Systems

Shape: PP32 can be smooth convex and concave curved in the factory. The liner profile isavailable pan perforated for sound absorption. Brake pressed trapezoidal profilesto match other manufacturers’ profiles can be produced, for the replacement ofold profiles during refurbishment etc. Contact SpeedDeck for further information.

Non Fragility: WalkLiner in 0.65/0.7mm steel is non-fragile to ACR [M] 001:2000 class B when fixed in every pan using 5.5mm diameter screws plus 15mm diametersealed washers. At raking cuts (hips/valleys) use two fixings per pan. End laps minimum 60mm.

WalkLiner and PP32/0.7mm outer sheets are walkable at up to 1.8m centreswhen fully fixed, single span sheets can be vulnerable to denting.

PP32/0.4mm liner is non-fragile class C when fully fixed and requires endlaps of200mm. Other fixing details are as for WalkLiner, PP32/0.4mm liner is not walkable.

Acoustics: RW=45dB (calculated) with 180 mm rock or glass quilt insulation at a nominaldensity of 23kg/m3, with 0.7mm steel PP32 and WalkLiner.

Air tightness: The air barrier/vapour control layer is created by the liner:-

End laps : 6mm or 6x5mm diameter butyl bead, 60mm end lap (200mm for 0.4mm PP32 liner).

Side laps : SD seal 50mm plastic foil/butyl sealant tape.

Fasteners : 5.5mm diameter screws plus 15mm diameter bonded washers,minimum one per pan.

Fillers : 50mm PEL air seal filler blocks under liner profile at ridge andeaves. Create a robust seal to the wall at all penetrations and air barrier line perimeters.

Fire: PP32 with 180mm to 220mm Knauf FactoryClad37 glass quilt insulation and0.65/0.7mm WalkLiner is LPCB approved to LPS1181pt1:2003, LPCB Ref. No. 738a/03.

WalkLiner is class O in accordance with the building regulations, BS476 pt 6:1989 and BS476 pt 7:1987.

Dobel 200XT has an AA classification in accordance with BS476 pt 6:1958.

Warrington Fire Research assessments WFRC-C112910/2 and report WFRC-141465 indicate an integrity of 240 minutes and insulation for 15 minutesto BS 476 pt 22:1987 for a twin skin system insulated with glass quilt insulation,all as described in the report, copy available via SpeedDeck.

The glass and rock fibre quilt insulations commonly used with PP32/1020 are non-combustible to BS476 pt 4 1970. Knauf FactoryClad37 is Euroclass A1 to EN 13501-1.

The guarantee terms and conditions

1. With respect to buildings with roofing andwall cladding of Dobel 200XT plastisol,Swedish Steel hereby guarantees that nopaint film flaking will occur prior to the endof the applicable period to first fullrepainting on more than 5% of the surfaceof any single plain (i.e. one wall or one roofslope) of the building. The warranty periodcommences on the date of product deliveryto site or on the date 18 months aftermanufacture by Swedish Steel, whichevershall first occur.

2. The validity of this guarantee is subject toregistration of the building by SwedishSteel. A registration certificate will beissued by Swedish Steel following its receiptof a duly completed application form.

3. Claims under the guarantee must be madewithin one month of suspected materialfailure and in any case prior to 15% of anysingle plane becoming affected. Furtherparticulars of the claims procedure are setout in the registration certificate.

4. Swedish Steel must be given theopportunity to inspect the building withrespect to which the claim is made.

5. Swedish Steel agrees to remedy valid claimsunder this guarantee by taking suitableaction to reinstate the affected area in amanner solely determined by Swedish Steel.The liability of Swedish Steel is expresslylimited to the cost of labour and materialfor such reinstatement.

6. The terms and conditions of this guaranteeshall apply to such reinstatement areas for theremainder of the original guarantee period.

Limitations and Exclusions

1. This guarantee is only valid for the exteriorside of the material. It is not valid for thereverse side nor for surfaces that have beenover painted or upon which touch-up painthas been used at any stage.

2. Limited edge peel on Dobel 200XT is anormal event under current climaticconditions of acid rain. If found to beaesthetically displeasing it may be treated in accordance with our published brochure“Dobel, Inspection and maintenance of pre-painted steel sheet”. Flaking, due tocorrosion, starting at cut edges is coveredby the guarantee. Swedish Steel must beproperly advised of the claim before morethan one centimetre (10mm) of coating haspeeled back from the edges and this musthave occurred on at least 10% of the edgeswhich are exposed in any one plane. If theclaim in not notified within the expectedtime to first full repainting decision, then the claim will be invalid.

3. The guarantee does not apply to damagecaused by fire, lightning, mechanical impact,explosion, storm, tempest, earth quake,radiation and other extraneous causesincluding wilful acts, misuse or negligence.

4. The guarantee is also invalid if any of thefollowing applies:

A. If the pitch surface is less than 4°.

B. If the sheet has suffered eithermechanical or chemical damage.

C. If water has not been allowed to drainfreely from all surfaces (ponding).

D. Poor sealing of overlapping areas whichallow collection of water or corrosives willalso invalidate the guarantee. For correctmethod of sealing please refer to ourspecification sheet.

E. If the material has been stored or used indirect contact with or in the directvicinity of corrosive materials such aswet timber or soil.

F. If the sheet has been exposed to contactwith copper or lead or water containingions of the same.

G. If suitable fixings and sealants have notbeen used.

H. If fabrication, erection and maintenancehave not been carried out in accordancewith recognised industry standards.Maintenance records should prove thatareas not washed by rain i.e soffits etc, havebeen washed at least once a year.

I. If dirt or debris have amassed or there are areaswhich are inaccessible to normal water shedding.

J. If the material has been exposed to morethan 60°C continuous temperature,whatever the cause.

K. If the sheet is regularly subjected tocondensation, corrosive chemicals or fumes,ashes, cement dust, animal effluent or othercorrosive or aggressive substances or agents.

• An Acknowledgement of registration will be issued.• The Acknowledgement will explain the Procedure for making a Claim under the Guarantee but

please be aware that notification of any claim must occur before 15% of defective materialprevails in any single plane.

Marine means building locations within 1.5 miles from lake or sea shoreline. E, W etc is the mainorientation of the plane (East, West etc). The above expected times to full repainting are thosecurrent in October 1998.

Swedish Steel reserves the rights to redefine such periods. The period valid for a particular buildingwill be stated in the guarantee registration certificate and will correspond with to the relevant periodprevailing at the time of guarantee application.
