HITACHI
Hitachi’s Zaxis-5 Series feature three work modes and the
HIOS III hydraulic system which perfectly balances engine
performance with hydraulic flow to generate more aggressive
boom/arm speed. From the self-cleaning steps and convenient
grab bars, to the centralized lube banks and grouped service
points, Zaxis-5 excavators make maintenance simpler. The
updated door design provides improved visibility to the left
side of the machine when the door is in the closed position.
Welded bulkheads within the boom resist torsional stress for
unsurpassed durability. Booms, arms, and mainframes are
so tough, they’re warranted for three years, or 10,000 hours,
whichever comes first.
CASE
The CX80 offers the power of a full-size excavator with the
flexibility of a compact machine. Its centre-swing boom, a
feature normally found on compact excavators, generates
consistent and easy operation. The power and efficiency of
the CX130C and CX160C are due, in part, to the optimization
of their hydraulics system. The CX145C SR Minimum-Swing
Radius (MSR) excavator combines maneuverability and power,
while the CX210C full-sized excavator comes equipped to
handle a wide range of applications. All five excavators in-
corporate the use of Tier 4 certified Cooled Exhaust Gas Re-
circulation (CEGR) technology to meet current environmental
standards – and save on fuel consumption.
KOMATSU
All major components on Komatsu excavators, including the
engine, hydraulic pumps, motors and valves, are exclusively
designed and manufactured by Komatsu. This integrated de-
sign uses a closed centre load sensing hydraulic system that
takes hydraulic efficiency to the next level. It uses variable
speed matching, which allows the engine speed to adjust based
on the hydraulic pump output for both light and heavy-duty
applications, and low speed matching, which utilizes larger
pumps capable of producing higher pump output at lower en-
gine speeds. Six working modes of operation match machine
performance to the application. A standard rearview camera
allows the operator to view directly behind the machine.

SPECS – CRAWLER EXCAVATORS
DOOSAN
The Doosan excavators fitting in the 8- to 25-metric-ton size
class feature new power modes that provide improved per-
formance and faster workgroup speeds for heavy duty work.
Four work modes – digging, breaker, shear and lifting – allow
operators to get maximum efficiency and fuel economy. A new
electronic clutch fan reduces fuel consumption and noise levels,
while providing cooling system improvements. Options include
a diesel-powered coolant heater, a straight travel pedal and
Intelligent Floating Boom whihc add versatility and increase
efficiency. If a “machine debilitating” part is needed, Doosan
will deliver it directly to the end-user within two business days
or Doosan will pay for a replacement machine rental.
Terex midi crawler excavators feature the combination of
a short tail swing and patented Knickmatik function which
allows excavation adjacent to walls and other obstacles. The
load sensing hydraulic system enables work to be carried out
precisely and efficiently. The wide dozer blade is independently
controlled from the track drive for uninterrupted operation.
And with a simple flip of a switch, operators can change from
ISO to SAE controls to suit personal preference. The load-
sensing and load-independent flow division hydraulics system
is matched to the machine’s size to give operators a greater
power ratio and smooth, simultaneous operation for maximum
worksite production.
TEREX
The EC140D, EC160D and EC220D excavator models are fit-
ted with the latest Volvo Tier 4 interim emissions-compliant
engines, and are substantially more fuel efficient – up to 14
percent. A new “smart” hydraulics system features improve-
ments that increase total flow and improve cycle times up to
2.5 percent. An attachment management system can store
up to 18 pre-sets and enables hydraulic flow to adjust to meet
attachment requirements. Work modes include I-idle, F-fine,
G-general or H-heavy with the machine automatically setting
the appropriate engine speed for the work mode. Eco mode is
a feature that works in H or G mode for better fuel efficiency
without loss of performance in most operating conditions.
VOLVO KOBELCO
KOBELCO offers a full range of 17 crawler excavators in the
8- to 25-metric-ton classes, including zero tail swing, stan-
dard, long-reach and compact models. Advanced technologies
include an innovative noise and dust reduction system, and
advanced hydraulic circuitry for reduction of pressure loss.
These models feature conveniently located controls, spacious
cabs and panoramic views for jobsite safety and improved vis-
ibility. Supporting a wide range of buckets and attachments,
KOBELCO excavators are built for optimal productivity. All
KOBELCO machines feature long-life components reducing
replacement costs and increasing longevity. Routine mainte-
nance is hassle free, with simple, on-the-ground access.
MUSTANG
The Mustang 800Z is a true zero-tail-swing machine, with no
cab overhang beyond the tracks in any direction. The hydraulic
quick coupler feature makes attachment changes as simple
as flipping a switch. Plus, the pin grabber style hydraulic
coupler works with the majority of excavator attachments.
The hydraulic system incorporates two variable pumps and
two gear pumps; pump oil flows are combined and redirected
where needed allowing for simultaneous operation without
loss of hydraulic power. Eco mode reduces engine rpm by 10
percent to save fuel when full performance is not necessary.
High strength booms are constructed with a single boom-pin
design and thick side-plates with internally routed lines.
WACKER NEUSON
The minimum swing radius 8003 track excavator offers one of
the smoothest and most powerful hydraulic systems available
on the market today in this class. This 8-ton excavator comes
with an air conditioned cab, and a choice of short or long dip-
perstick. Powered by the economical Yanmar 4-cylinder diesel
engine, the 8003 track excavator offers rubber track, dozer
blade and boom-mounted working light. The hydraulic system
features oil cooler, pilot joystick controls and dipperstick-
mounted auxiliary hydraulic connection for two directions of
motion. Other standard features include: auto-shift 2-speed
travel drive, hydraulically dampened drive pedals and levers,
flat faced couplers and control pattern selector valve.

SPECS – CRAWLER EXCAVATORS
The JS160, JS160LC and JS190 feature Tier 4i engines, with
the JS160LC benefitting from JCB’s unique Ecomax engine
that meets emission standards with no need for a diesel par-
ticulate filter or exhaust after-treatment. Both the 4.4-litre
and 4.8-litre Ecomax engines consume up to 10 percent less
fuel than previous models while offering smoother machine
operation. All the JS models have a revised cab interior with
lower noise levels. A new full-colour, multifunction LCD dis-
play provides operators with customizable home screens that
display the information they need to be most productive. JCB’s
LiveLink telematic solution provides fleet owners with remote
fuel consumption data.
Caterpillar has eight models in the 8- to 25-metric-ton range.
As an example, the 318E features two power modes: high and
economy. On-demand engine power keeps engine speed low
during light loading and automatically adjusts speed up when
it senses a heavier load. Engine idle shutdown automatically
shuts the engine off when it’s been idling for more than a
specified amount of time that you set. Electric boom regen-
eration results in less pressure loss, higher controllability,
more productivity, and lower operating costs. During boom
regeneration, engine speed is controlled to be low in order to
save extra oil flow from going to the boom cylinders, which
saves energy.
Eight crawler excavators fall into the 8- to 25-metric-ton
category: the 75G, 85G, 130G, 135G, 160G LC, 180G LC,
210G LC and 225D LC. The 75G and 85G feature Final Tier 4
engines, while the other models feature Interim Tier 4 engines.
Responding to customer needs, the G-Series features more
hydraulic flow for faster work cycles and greater productivity,
and a comfortable and spacious cab for improved operator
comfort. Models above the 130G include John Deere’s exclu-
sive Powerwise III management system to maximize power
output, save fuel and deliver smooth multifunction hydraulic
operation. In addition, the G-Series has multiple attachment
options for today’s jobsite.
Each and every feature on LiuGong excavators has been fine-
tuned to give the best performance possible, from the heavy-
duty boom and dipper right down to the tracks. The excavators
also feature ergonomic cabs with best-in-class 360-degree
visibility, greater comfort and adjustable control levers.
Not only are the excavators fuel efficient, they feature a
heavy duty cooling system, auxiliary hydraulic plumbing for
increased attachment versatility, increased flexibility and
optimized no-tools service access for more up-time.
There are three models in the 8- to 25-metric-ton range:
the 915D, 922D and 922E, with Cummins engines rated at
80, 102 and 118 kW, respetively.
The Link-Belt 145 X3 Spin Ace Minimum Swing Radius Ex-
cavator is now available in North America in LC and Dozer
models. New features include an Interim Tier 4a Isuzu engine
with 9% better fuel efficiency, a ROPS-certified cab with new
interior and 7-inch colour monitor, up to 9% more lift capacity,
4% faster cycle times and improved serviceability.
The 145 X3 is equipped with an advanced, electronically-
controlled Isuzu diesel engine to deliver unparalleled perfor-
mance and power to respond to peak demands of heavy digging
and lifting applications. This advanced engine is EPA certified
to Interim Tier 4a standards utilizing cooled exhaust gas recir-
culation (CEGR) and diesel particulate filter technology (DPF).
Kubota’s largest and most advanced power utility excavator,
the KX080-4 delivers high torque to power through any tough
task. The Common Rail System electronically controls the
timing and amount of fuel injection, resulting in less engine
noise and better fuel efficiency. In addition, CRS makes the
KX080-4 EPA Tier IV-compliant. Standard Mode provides
a 5% productivity improvement and uses up to 12% less fuel
compared to the prior model. The flick of a switch activates
Eco Mode for up to 7% fuel savings over Standard Mode.

GRADALL
Gradall crawler excavators are equipped with a telescoping
and tilting boom. Boom forces and cycle times are comparable
to conventional excavators but the low profile of the Gradall
boom design allows it to work under bridges, trees and other
obstructions where a knuckle boom simply won’t fit. For grad-
ing and finishing, the high-pressure hydraulics system adjusts
automatically to save fuel and eliminate the need for mode
selection. Unlike boom-end tilting attachments, there’s no loss
in boom forces as the entire Gradall boom tilts 220 degrees,
maximizing attachment productivity. An in-cab switch selects
either the Gradall, Deere or SAE joystick pattern. A compact
counterweight design shortens the rear swing.
YANMAR
The ViO80, with an operating weight of 18,136 pounds, is the
largest of Yanmar’s seven models in the ViO series. There are
also two models in the SV Series of ultra-tight turning minis
with minimal turning radii in both the front and rear. The larg-
est is the SV100-1, with a 21,554-pound operating weight.
The Yanmar excavators utilize multiple variable displacement
piston pumps and gear pumps. The load sensing pumps – in
combination with Yanmar’s innovative hydraulic circuitry design
– allow fast, smooth and powerful performance even when
combining functions of the boom, arm bucket and swing. The
standard equipment hydraulic coupler expands the versatility
by allowing a variety of bucket sizes or attachments to be used.
