Near-line finishingUnlike in-line finishing where the bookletmaker is dedicated to one print engine, the DSF-5000 allows you to support the printed output of multiple printers, whether it is from colour or mono presses, from different printer vendors, merging together digital and offset pages, simple brochures or complex personalised documents - all without compromising print production and offering high speed reliable feeding of a wide variety of media.

Unlike a system with collator, a sheet feeder is ideally suited to production that:• Is printed in collated sequence• Has variable numbers of sheets from

ProductiveThe marriage of features that include feeding from the top of a stack of sheets, multi-point sheet separation and anti-static devices enable consistent and reliable feeding at speeds of 200 to 300 sheets per minute from a 6000 sheet capacity pallet-style paper tray. In terms of comparison with a digital press, the DSF-5000 is the equivalent of matching print production of 400 to 1000 A4 pages per minute!

The option of fitting four stitching heads and the in-line Duplo DKT-200 three knife trimmer with centre gutter cutter, enables production of small format books to be performed two-up; increasing system flexibility and doubling speed further.

Merge and matchMuch more than just a simple cover feeder, two paper trays enable you to:• Load on the run (A to B to A…)• Add cover or merge sheets into the

document at any desired locations • Merge sheets from a second source,

for example after laminating or UV Coating, or from an offset press

• Match sheets to main content (with barcode kit

Ease of useThe MS Windows based user screen makes job management, programming, recall and set-up quick and easy. With the inclusion of the SCC (Slit/Cut/Crease) Module, sheets can bypass other off-line operations like guillotining and creasing and the Duplo system will completely process the work from printed sheet to finished booklet with no other manual intervention.

Pallet-style paper trayThe standard rolling pallet supplied with the DSF-5000 allows advance loading outside the machine. The pallet loads onto a fork lift inside the feeder and an integral air bed provides easy movement of the paper stack to the correct position.

Press integrationAn adaptor enables the pallet tray to fit inside a digital press and be loaded automatically. Once full, it is rolled out and into the DSF-5000 making the system an ideal solution for finishing production in the same area as the presses are located, operated usually by the same persons who are running the printers. This greatly simplifies and speeds operation of the physical workflow of the paper and provides improved Health & Safety conditions for operators.

Accuracy, on timeThe DSF-5000 incorporates multiple systems to ensure accurate operation. Optical sensors to read printed images, ultrasonic sensors to detect double sheets, plus Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) to detect the end of a document.

Security and IntegrityFor complete confidence that the system will recognise sheets that are missing, duplicate, turned, or out of sequence, then the DSF-5000 provides the answer through use of integrated cameras reading common 1D barcodes but also 2D barcodes that can hold more information in a smaller area, causing less visual impact on the printed document. Production is managed, merged and checked with all data recorded in the PC controller, creating a historical audit trail and allowing customer analysis to determine any reporting or reprinting needs.
