N a t u r a l E v o l u t i o nFURUNO NavNet series has won unrivalled popularity worldwide for its solid

reliability, performance and expandability since its release back in 2001. While it

has been widely used in a number of recreational craft worldwide, it has also been

employed in more professionally-oriented environment, assisting operator with

comprehensive navigation information from networked onboard sensors.

This wide usage endorses the sound capability of the FURUNO NavNet series.

NavNet vx2, its successor, combines radar, GPS/WAAS chart plotter, network

sounder and network weather facsimile into a complete navigation network.

In addition to that, a wide range of optional add-ons such as autopilot, AIS

transponder, satellite compass, VHF radiotelephone, MaxSea-NavNet PC

software and others can be interfaced to deliver total helm solution. This flexible

system construction is realized by utilizing the latest Ethernet network technology

available to facilitate a seamless navigational data management system.

NavNet vx2 fulfils not only the intricate desire of recreational boaters, but also

the most complicated needs of professional seafarers.

C-Map NT MAXC-Map NT Max charts offer rich and detailed navigation information with its full global coverage. Its exclusive features include: Live nav-aid, which shows flashing buoys and light houses with color sectors according to own ship position; and Guardian Technology™, which continuously scans the area ahead of your boat for rocks, shoals and other dangerous objects that may cause trouble if your boat continues to sail along the current course.

Navionics GoldNavionics® “GOLD” charts offer “object-oriented” color rich presentations with its superior clarity and detail on top of its exclusive features. One of its features is the ‘Xplain™’ feature that translates every navigational symbol into a plain language description that is easy to understand. Also, the IC™ (Intelligent Clarity) feature automatically filters the on-screen presentation at every zoom level to offer a clear, uncluttered display of all essential nav data.

NavNet vx2 Route Monitoring Scheme When interfaced with the Satellite Compass, AIS and MaxSea-NavNet, NavNet

vx2 enables monitoring of vessel traffic in surrounding areas, which leads to

safer and more efficient vessel operation.

Enhanced ARPA target tracking and echo trail through highly accurate heading input from the Satellite Compass SC-50/110

Thanks to highly accurate heading data from the Satellite Compass SC-50/110,

the NavNet vx2 radar echo trail and ARPA target tracking functions can be

greatly enhanced. Even when the vessel turns around quickly or runs into rough

sea conditions, clear and stable radar echo trails are presented. Constant ARPA

target tracking can be facilitated with spot-on accurate heading information that

the SC-50/110 delivers.

AIS Target Tracking

When the FA-150 AIS receiver/transponder is interfaced with NavNet vx2, the

AIS information scheme is integrated into the NavNet vx2 network to facilitate

enhanced route monitoring. Up to 100 AIS targets can be displayed with five

different symbols to indicate their status on any networked NavNet vx2 radar

and chart plotter. Detailed information about a specific AIS target can be viewed

in the AIS data cell at the upper part of the screen.

MaxSea-NavNet Advanced Mobile Target Tracking

MaxSea-NavNet’s Mobile Target symbols are clearly displayed on precise charts

with heading vectors. Trails and heading vectors clearly show the past and

expected routes. By clicking on a target, its speed, heading, and TCPA will be

displayed. For each target, the latest data transmitted from the target can be

continually displayed in a data dialog box. MaxSea-NavNet’s unique graphic

display of CPA (Closest Point of Approach) on the chart intuitively displays

approaching danger.

MaxSea-NavNet’s Mobile Center displays all available information on a PC about

all targets. The data includes MMSI (Maritime Mobile Service Identity), speed and

heading, radius of gyration, size and type of vessels, etc. A list of vessels that

may be generated in areas of heavy vessel traffic can be sorted, and the specific

targets can be selected out of the list easily.

DSC Position PollingWhen any NavNet vx2 display is connected

to the VHF/DSC radiotelephone, DSC

position, received from another DSC

capable VHF transceiver, can be displayed

and recorded on vx2's chart plotter as

waypoints. This capability allows two or

more vessels to exchange their positions

with each other so that the positions of the

colleague vessels can be shared during

operation.

N.B., The VHF Radiotelephone FM-3000 is type-

approved by FCC (Federal Communications

Commision) only.

The FM-8800 and the FM-2721 does not output

position data externally for DSC position polling.

NavNet vx2 Route Planning SchemeWhen the NAVpilot autopilot is incorporated

into the NavNet vx2 network, the destination

and the course to steer can be set on

NavNet vx2, and the planned route

information can then be transferred to the

NAVpilot. The rest of the work will be done

by the Navpilot, steering the vessel

automatically to the destination.

MaxSea’s PBG (Personal Bathymetry Generator) clearly shows the contours of the seabedWith the 2D/3D Personal Bathymetry Generator available in the MaxSea Explorer

product, an accurate 3D representation of the seabed can be drawn from the

depth data available from the chart. On top of that, MaxSea-NavNet PBG

records the position and depth as the vessel proceeds through the networked

GPS and sounder. The depth and position data constantly updates the seabed

contour, so that the most up-to-the-minute depth contour chart can be viewed

at all times.

Free, unlimited worldwide weather forecasts and oceanic data access through MaxSea Chopper InterfaceOcean conditions and weather forecasts are requested through MaxSea’s

exclusive chopper interface, allowing acquisition of the data with e-mail at any

time. Five to ten minutes after the request is transmitted, compressed weather

data will come in as attachment to the e-mail. Upon reception, simply double-

clicking on the attachment would incorporate the data into MaxSea-NavNet. The

range of available information includes: Sea surface temperature, Wind, Waves,

Surface pressure, 500 mb pressure, Altimetry, and Chlorophyl level.

NavNet vx2 System Expandabi l i ty

Valuable weather information such as wind, sea surface temperature and sea surface pressure, which is required for conducting safe and efficient navigation, can be displayed with MaxSea-NavNet.

This chart shows the chlorophyl level of the sea, allowing the users to locate possible fishing spot of the day.

NavNet vx2 delivers over 50 display orientations to suit specific purposes at sea. Straightforward mode selection is facilitated through the display menu window.

Split screen presentationTwo or more functions can be simultaneously displayed in a two-way or three-way split screen presentation.

Function keys alongside the screenFive soft keys are placed alongside the screen to allow the users to access virtually all the functions of NavNet vx2. Simply by pressing the soft keys, any NavNet vx2 operation modes and settings can be selected.
