Specifications and Limitations

1) The solution must be able to separate the turtle from the rest of the tank.

Limitations: General

- The solution must not allow other species into the turtle’s area above the water. - The solution must not hold the turtle in a way that restricts its motion.

2) The solution must look like a natural piece of the tank.

Limitations: General, Specific

- The solution must not have colors that stand out from other colors in the tank.- The solution must not interrupt the movement of water around the tank.

3) The solution must be able to stay on top of the water.

Limitations: General

- The solution cannot be a permanent part of the tank.- The solution cannot be immobile within the tank.

4) The solution must be constructed of chemically friendly materials.

Limitations: General

- The solution cannot release any harmful substances into the tank.- The solution cannot be harmful to any of the species in the tank.

5) The solution must have the ability to support the turtle.

Limitations: Specific

- The solution cannot involve support systems that interfere with the tank life and the viewing experience of the visitors.

- The materials cannot interrupt the flow of water moving through the tank.

Page 2: Specifications and Limitations

6) The solution must have a non-abrasive surface.

Limitations: General

- The surface cannot irritate the turtle’s skin in any way.- The solution must not use metal due to its corrosive properties when exposed to salt

water.

7) The solution must be submerged to keep the turtle comfortable.

Limitations: General

- The solution must not make it possible for the turtle to reach its head out of the water.- The solution cannot be unadjustable
