Fertigation is a technique by which soluble

fertilizers are mixed with the irrigation water

to enhance crop production. It is a highly

effective and flexible tool for controlling

placement, timing and nutrient application

method. This enables precise nutrition to be

applied according to the soil fertility status

and growth stage of any crop.

Foliar feeding provides an excellent

solution when the plant root system is not

functioning optimally or nutrition via the

soil is malfunctioning. This form of feeding

is ideal when root uptake is disturbed by

factors such as overly cold or warm soils,

high soil pH, high weed competition or

nematode infestation. Foliar fertilizers are

also perfect for use as a preventive tool

Select range provides with all ingredients growers needOur Select range of fully soluble single source, fertigation fertilizers are extremely pure

Select MAP12-61-0Mono-ammonium phosphate is ideal for use at the initial growth phase of all crops, immediately before and after seeding and (trans)planting. Select MAP is a whitish crystalline powder, chloride- and sodium- free. It is the ideal fertilizer to increase the availability of soil-phosphorus, especially in calcareous soils. It is highly soluble at (370 g/liter water (at 20°C).

Select MKP0-51.5-34Select mono-potassium phosphate is the most concentrated straight fertilizer, it contains 86% pure nutrients (P and K). But it also has one of the lowest salt index among fertilizers, which makes it ideal for use in hydroponics. The product is white, sodium- and chloride- free and has no impurities. Its solubility is 230 g/liter water (at 20°C).

Select KCI0-0-61Select potassium chloride is the ideal product for chloride- tolerant crops. It is the richest potassium fertilizer though the least expensive one. Select KCI is a nitrogen-free potassium carrier, which is an important trait at the bulking up of many vegetables and fruits. It improves fruit color, sweetness and oil content. The product is white, contains negligible amounts of heavy metals and is highly soluble at 330 g/liter water (at 20°C).

Select PeKacid0-59-20This is the only solid, highly acidic, crystalline and straight product in the fertigation fertilizers marketplace that contains such high concentrations of P and K. This white fertilizer is sodium and chloride free, and extremely soluble, at 670 g/liter water (at 20°C). Due to its high acidity it helps keep drippers clean. Furthermore, its high acidity enables tank- mixing it with calcium and magnesium carriers although it contains high rates of phosphorus.

The liquid fertilizer for foliar applicationEase to use, easy to dilute and easy to store.

The new precision foliar liquid range Agroleaf Liquid features unique products designed to

eliminate deficiencies, and boost plant growth during critical growth stages. The Agroleaf

Liquid range features products are easy to use and tank mixable.

Agroleaf Liquid Calcium+7% w/w Ca (9.8% as CaO)This innovative liquid fertilizer is fortified with three technologies to boost absorption to help avoid Ca deficiencies in fruit and vegetable crops. Agroleaf Liquid Calcium+ is a blend of calcium combined with amino acids, plant sugars, lignates and an industry leading surfactant. Calcium is important because it is essential for root development, shelf life of all produce and the building of cell walls within the plant and the produce.

Highly effective natural chelating agents, amino acids are essential building blocks of all living matter and in plants play a key role in photosynthesis. Calcium+ is fortified with four amino acids - glycine, glutamine acid, mono sodium glutamate and L-Arginine – which all enhance Ca uptake. Glycine and glutamic acid are fundamental metabolites in the formation of vegetable tissue and chlorophyll synthesis, while L-Arginine increases synthesis of flower and fruit related hormones.

The plant sugar, dextrose monohydrate, is an immediately available plant food source, while the non-ionic surfactant − with excellent spreading and wetting properties − further improves the speed of Ca uptake and coverage on the leaf surface.

Agroleaf Liquid Total+7-7-7+Zn&MnTotal+ is a balanced nutrient and plant biostimulant. It has been formulated to provide the plant with targeted stress relief when the plant needs it most. During periods of stress caused by both environmental and pesticide applications Total+ will provide the plant with Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium along with chelated zinc and Manganese and a seaweed extract biostimulant. Total+ acts as a safener for pesticide, herbicide, insecticide application to help prevent any negative effects on the plant during a period where it is already under stress from disease pressure.

Total+ is very versatile and, having been formulated with a citric acid based delivery system to aid penetration of foliar applied products, it can be applied as a foliar nutrient on its own or with other foliar sprays including pesticides.

Controlled release fertilizers (CRF)Controlled release fertilizers are fertilizer granules which are covered with a semi-

permeable coating (a kind of membrane). After application water penetrates

through the semi-permeable coating and starts to dissolve the nutrients present in

the granule. The release of nutrients starts once they have been partially dissolved.

A pump-like action is initiated due to differences in osmotic pressure (see diagram).

The plant is able to take up the released nutrients.

CRF work at temperatures above freezing (0°C). Influenced by the temperature,

the membrane regulates the daily release of nutrients. At higher temperatures the

release of nutrients will be faster. At lower temperatures it will be slower, in line

with the nutritional needs of the plant.

CRF play an important role in improving

yield, reducing nutrient losses and

simplifying fertilizer application.

These products help to regulate the

nutrient levels through the entire plant’s

growth cycle. Younger plants are not

harmed or stressed from excess salt levels,

while mature plants have enough nutrition

to last until the end of the growth cycle.

Agroblen26-5-11+2MgO+TE Agroblen 26-5-11+2MgO is a partly coated NPK controlled release fertilizer. It contains additional SO3 so ideal for Sulphur requiring crops. Release of nutrients will last 2-3 months but the uncoated nutrients will give a strong start in the beginning of the growth cycle.

Agroblen15-8-16+5MgO Agroblen 15-8-16+5MgO is the perfect, Poly-S and resin-coated base fertilizer for vegetables and fruits. It is a 79% coated NPK controlled release fertilizer. Extra magnesium is included to enhance photosynthesis and plant energy. The combination of both coating technologies ensures enough nutrients to feed the crop for 5-6 months.

Agroblen18-5-10+4CaO+2MgO Agroblen 18-5-10+4CaO+2MgO is a fully coated NPK controlled release fertilizer. It has enough nutrients to feed the strawberry plant for 2 – 3 months. This continuous supply of nutrients creates a fantastic uniform crop growth. Additionally, calcium is included to encourage cell wall development and plant growth. Lastly, magnesium is included to enhance photosynthesis and plant energy.

Agroblen20-10-10+4MgO Agroblen 20-10-10+4MgO is the perfect, Poly-S and resin-coated base fertilizer for vegetables, fruits and field grown nursery stock. It is a partially coated NPK controlled release fertilizer designed for medium to long-term crops. It has enough nutrients to feed the plant throughout its 5 – 6 month crop cycle. This continuous supply of nutrients creates a fantastic uniform crop growth.

Agroblen15-9-9+3MgO This Agroblen 15-9-9+3MgO product is the perfect, resin-coated base fertilizer for year-round crops and trees. It is a 92% coated, NPK controlled release fertilizer. Agromaster High P11-48-0 Agromaster High P is a 75% coated product with a release period of 1-2 months. This analysis is created to give plants a good start via the uncoated N and P and continue the a steady supply of N and P in the later period of the growth cycle when nutrient demand gets higher.

Wetting and water conservation agentsWetting agents work to create an environment in the substrate that promotes

uniform water movement and wetting.

Wetting and water conservation agents

are used so that substrates, including soil,

will hydrate uniformly when watered. This

is very important when the medium is dry,

as it often is with new plantings, or when it

fails to get watered on a regular basis.

Occasionally, with new plantings, the

irrigation water will “pond” or “puddle” on

top or channel down the insides of the bag

or container without readily infiltrating the

medium. Both of these situations will use

excessive water that could be eliminated

by using a wetting and water conservation

agent.

Wetting agents work to create an

environment in the substrate that

promotes uniform water movement

and wetting. More uniform distribution

of water and dissolved nutrients allows

plants to grow more vigorously and

promotes optimum root growth. Improved

air to water ratios, vital for optimum

plant growth, are also established when a

wetting agent is used.

If the substrate or soil dries out between

irrigation cycles, it will rewet rapidly

and uniformly if a wetting and water

conservation agent has been used. This

can dramatically speed up the time it takes

for water to infiltrate a medium saving

time and money with every watering.

Micromax WS is a range of premium water soluble fertilizers which are used in agriculture

and horticulture to prevent and control deficiencies. It is equally efficient when applied

by fertigation and by foliar spray and can be used in a wide variety of crops, like cereals,

vegetables, flowers and fruit-trees. The Micromax WS products are easy to use and tank

Micromax WS IronFe chelate EDDHA 6%Micromax WS Iron is a premium fully water-soluble fertilizer, consisting of EDDHA-chelated iron plus X3, a specific biostimulant that enhances the absorption of the Fe-chelate compound into plant leaves resulting in optimum uptake by a large variety of crops.

Micromax WS Iron can be mix easily and safely used in agriculture and horticulture to prevent and control iron deficiencies in a wide variety of crops, like cereals, vegetables, flowers and fruit-trees. It is equally efficient when applied by fertigation and by foliar spray.

Lallemand Plant Care RangeThe Lallemand Plant Care range includes naturally occurring micro-organism

Proper use of beneficial bacteria productsWhen applied with water in such a way that the

Naturally secures yield and qualityIntraCell, containing a minimum of 97% glycine

betaine, is the purest commercial form available. The

product allows this natural stress protectant to be

applied easily to plants of all types that are requiring

assistance to fend off production robbing stresses.

The active substance glycine betaine (trimethyl glycine) is a powerful osmoprotectant. It allows plant cells to naturally defend themselves against a wide range of stresses imposed on them. IntraCell improves crop performance particularly under conditions of environmental stress caused by heat, salinity, drought, excessive water and cold. By reducing the negative effects of these particular stress factors IntraCell encourages normal metabolic processes. This results in enhanced photosynthesis with better utilisation of foliar or soil applied nutrients and thus increased crop yields and quality.

An innovative plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR)Particularly focused on increasing sulphur availability

micro-organism Delftia acidovorans (Strain RAY209)

at a minimum of 108 CFU (Colony Forming Units) per

millilitre.

This specifically selected soil rhizobacterium is attracted to exudates from plant roots and will rapidly travel towards growing roots colonizing the root zone once it gets there. These rhizobacteria have a number of beneficial modes of action that positively impact on plant root growth and health. Depending upon environmental and soil conditions these benefits can ultimately support higher yields and improved quality in a wide variety of crops.

Growing MediaConsistent quality professional substrates

Growing media remains a key sector of our business. ICL offers an extended range of Levington proprietary

growing media products, many with premium coir content, for fruit crops.

The company has its own supplies of quality UK peat,

as well as sources of high quality imported peats. Well

positioned close to other raw materials we have secure

supplies of quality wood fibre and bark and professional

grade coir. At ICL we have many years of experience of

working with coir, initially for inclusion in Levington peat

reduced growing media mixes.

Recent major investment to upgrade our Nutberry

growing media production site, near Annan in Dumfries

and Galloway, has included the installation of a bespoke

coir rehydration facility giving us complete control over

the process. As well as peat reduced mixes, we supply an

excellent quality coir stand-alone substrate for the soft

fruit sector.

We aim to supply growers what they want – a consistent

quality product when they want it – our goal being a

maximum five day lead time from when an order is

released to production. ICL will provide full technical

backup, including visits to grower operations to discuss

their requirements.

Giving your crops what they need?Many factors impact on plant quality and correct nutrition is among the most important. It not only has a key role to play in preventing plant diseases, but is vital to healthy growth and, where appropriate, crop yield – therefore ultimately its financial performance.

Plants need the correct nutrients depending on the growth stage, the growing media and its pH and Electrical Conductivity (EC). Water quality is another key parameter and on many nurseries can change through the season when switching between different water sources. How it is applied to crop also has an impact.

Saving you time, money and helping the environmentWhile some find manually calculating crop nutrition programmes for different crop stages somewhat daunting, it can also be time consuming,

AngelaWeb 2.0 looks to save precious management time and decrease any errors in nutrient calculations. With the rising price of mineral raw materials and transport costs, fertilizer is a significant input cost. Apply too little and crop quality/yield suffers, apply too much and money is wasted, the environment suffers and growers may fall foul of the new water framework directive.

How it works...Web based, AngelaWeb 2.0 is straightforward to operate and apply. First the crop, including the variety, as well as growing media type and growth phase is selected. From this the crop’s specific nutritional demands are displayed as well as the option to create Controlled Release Fertilizer simulations. The next step involves inputting data from a detailed analysis of the water source and how it is to be applied. Next, by selecting from a list of ‘straights’ or water soluble fertilizers, the software calculates a fertilizer regime. In support of this, it generates a graph showing the percentage of the plants nutritional needs being fulfilled at each growth stage, as well as the EC level.

As the season progresses if certain elements changes, such as the water source, the existing data can be retrieved and changes quickly made. The software, having made the necessary tweaks and adjustments to the fertilizer programme, produces new print outs and reports.
