Special Thanks to… • Robbie Hensen for building the new shelves in the pantry and the

Inside this issue: Did You Know?
General Assembly will be held in Portland, Oregon for the first time since the 1960’s?
And… our own Denise McPherson is going as a
commissioned delegate from our Presbytery? It is an historic moment in our church’s 115 year history! Please pray for wisdom for Denise during June 18-25, as
she represents us at GA.

BUTTERMILK BISCUITS
The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; You hold my lot. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage.
I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I keep the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also rests secure… You show me the path of life. In Your presence there is fullness of joy;
One Sunday morning at a small southern church, the new pastor called on one of his older deacons to lead in the opening prayer. The deacon stood up, bowed his head and said: “Lord, I hate buttermilk.” The pastor opened one eye and wondered where this was going. The deacon continued: “Lord, I hate lard.” Now the pastor was totally perplexed. The deacon continued. “Lord, I ain’t too crazy about plain flour. But after you mix ‘em all together and bake ‘em in a hot oven, I just love buttermilk biscuits. Lord help us to realize when life gets hard, when things come up that we don’t like, whenever we don’t understand what You are doing, that we need to wait and see what You are making. After You get through mixing and baking, it’ll probably be something even better than buttermilk biscuits. Amen.”
Thank you for the eight days of vacation which allowed me to travel to Southern California with my husband, Rob. His reunion with his old singing buddies in Palm Springs, California, provided the perfect excuse for me to spend some time with my niece and her five children who live only 20 minutes away in Indio. My two sisters were also able to come during that time for a visit. We gathered to celebrate my niece’s 39th birthday, her son’s 7th birthday, and the baby’s 1st birthday. It was a time of much joy and celebration; there’s nothing better in my book than playing with children! We cracked secret codes, read some great children’s stories, shared Bible games on the Kindle, learned to Zentangle, listened to recitals on the piano, and recitals of scripture, and Aunt Sue even set up a nail salon in the bathroom and painted and designed special nails for Vivian and Genevieve (a stretch for this grandmother who only has grandsons!). It was a wonderful trip!
We were able to stop in Susanville on the way down and have dinner with Patty Ross. We also stopped by Barry’s & Denise’s
property and explored the old Mono Inn to see the fireplace Barry’s dad built by hand. The High Sierra was breathtaking in beauty. The Joshua Trees were eerily, other worldly, mysterious. Not only did we experience warm, dry weather, we also experienced a dust storm!
As beautiful and varied as the scenery was on the trip, I was very pleased to arrive back home. I truly believe the Lord has chosen this place, at this point in time, for me — and my boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places. I arrived just in the nick of time! The trillium were in bloom! My heart is glad and my soul rejoices at God’s good graces. May you experience God’s good graces wherever God may lead, Pastor Susan

Introducing New Member Lyle Seaman
I started coming to Waldport Presbyterian church as an infant. One of my first memories are singing from the hymnal even before I could read. Songs like the “Ay-OO-Ah-Oh” song (Praise to the Lord the Almighty) and the song about the guild room (When morning gilds the sky).
In High School, Mom and I went to Yachats Presbyterian to sing in the choir where my brother, Craig, was the organist. In college, I got serious about my faith, attending Suburban Christian Church in Corvallis.
I moved to California after college and found work and a wonderful church which I belonged to for 30 + years. At First Covenant Church in Oakland, I sang in the choir, belonged to Bible Studies, and in general was very active in many different aspects of church life over the years. The last few years, I was on the Missions Board, overseeing and keeping in contact with both short and long term missionaries and ministries.
Now, I’m back home in Waldport, and ready to be involved in the life of Community Presbyterian Church Waldport, whether that’s in music and worship, Bible Study, or where else my talents lead me.
