Mr. Wang Gang is the vice director of Beijing Olympic Venues
Construction Headquarters Office and a senior engineer. Mr.
Wang previously served as the vice president of Beijing
Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. During his career, he
has managed numerous key projects such as the CCTV station,
the CCTV Tower, the Beijing East Square, the Beijing
International Financial Building, and the Science and Technology
Square of Tsing Hua Tongfang.
Mr. Wang Gang graduated from the Beijing Institute of Civil
Engineering and Architecture.
Mr. Ping Yongquan has over 40 years of experience in urban
planning and presently serves as an executive board member
and director of venue planning and construction for the Beijing
Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad
(BOCOG). Mr. Ping is also a consultant to the 1st Urban Plan-
ning Consultant Committee of the Ministry of Construction as
well as a specially invited member of the Science and Technology
Committee of China’s Ministry of Construction.
Mr. Ping is a graduate of the Architecture Department of
Zhejiang University.

Mr. Huang Baodong is Managing Director of Sinohydro
International. As a former executive deputy managing director
and incumbent managing director, he has made great contribu-
tion to the development of Sinohydro Corporation. Under his
leadership, the company ranked 89th among the Top 225
International Contractors in Engineering News-Record in 2002.
Mr. Huang was born in Hubei province and graduated from
Wuhan University (formerly Wuhan institute of Hydropower and
Water Conservancy Engineering) with a Bachelors degree in
hydropower construction management.
Mr. Brian Harris is vice president of AECOM, a global leader in
the technical professional services industry, with revenues close
to $2 billion and 17,000 employees worldwide. With over 25 years
of experience in the industry, Mr. Harris has worked for and with
organizations such as the Canadian government, the World Bank,
Roy Jorgensen Associates, DeLeuw Cather, and DMJM. In 1998,
Mr. Harris became managing director of ATC International,
combining resources of all AECOM companies outside of the
continental United States, with total revenue of $130 million.
Emphasis was in Asia, covering Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the
Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and the Middle East.
Mr. Harris received his BS in engineering from Leeds, in the UK,
and a management accounting degree from Dalhousie, Canada.

Mr. Ross Matthews is regional president-Greater China of
American International Underwriters (AIU), the foreign general
insurance arm of American International Group, Inc. (AIG). He is
responsible for overseeing AIU’s operations in China, Hong
Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
Mr. Matthews began his insurance career in New York in 1979
and was assigned to work in Japan in 1980 where he served in
a series of underwriting and reinsurance management positions
for three US-based international insurance companies. Since
then, Mr. Matthews has taken on a number of management roles
within the company serving clients throughout East Asia.
Mr. Matthews is an active member of the Hong Kong insurance
industry. He has been serving the General Insurance Council
(GIC) of Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) since 1995
and was elected Chairman of GIC for 1998-1999. He has
served on the Governing Committee of the HKFI since 1997.
Mr. Ma Yanli has been engaged in the supervision and participa-
tion of construction of many national as well as international key
projects. He is presently a professorate senior engineer, vice
chairman and president of China Metallurgical Engineering
Group Corp. (MCC), deputy director general of China
Association of Foreign Engineering Contraction, executive
director of China Association of Mechanical and Electrical
Imports & Exports, and president of Branch Association of
Metallurgical Equipment. Prior to his present position at MCC
he was the general manager at No.3 China Metallurgical
Construction Company, executive deputy party secretary of
Anshan Municipality, mayor of Anshan Municipality, and party
secretary of Anshan Municipality. He is deputy to the Seventh
and Eighth National People’s Congress.
Mr. Ma graduated from the Department of Architecture at
Tsinghua University.

Mr. David Turner has been actively involved in the onshore
construction insurance market in London for over 25 years. He
has been involved in the design and placement of the insurance
programs for a broad cross section of major projects around the
world, specifically in Asia. In particular Mr. Turner has detailed
knowledge of oil, gas, petrochemical and power generation
projects. For example, Mr. Turner was involved in the
international reinsurance placement for the construction of the
Ling Ao Nuclear Power facility in Guandong province.
He has experience as both a broker and underwriter in Lloyds of
London which provides him with a balanced view of the transac-
tional process from both the buyer and seller perspectives.
Mr. Turner currently has management responsibility for the
Construction Risks Division of Willis in London. This team is one
of the pre-eminent brokers in the onshore construction market in
London. The Willis team in London currently numbers 58
construction professionals including brokering, claims and
client management.
Mr. Stephen Townsend is responsible for implementing the
Project Management Institute’s (PMI) global strategy for building
relations with PMI’s member, business, government, cooperative
society, and affiliated organization stakeholders. In that role, he
is the institute’s lead liaison for its activities in China. He also
focuses on implementing PMI activities to expand its global
operations to better advocate for project management and serve
its members worldwide.
