PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Student reports will be sent home on Thursday 29th June with students in a sealed
envelope. Please take the time to read over these reports and do not hesitate to
contact the school if you have any questions. This year our school will be reporting to
the Victorian Curriculum introduced by the Victorian government. The purpose of this
new curriculum is to ensure that Victorian students are better equipped to deal with
our changing world.
The new Victorian Curriculum aims to give students the skills they need for work and
life: literacy, numeracy, scientific knowledge and skills, resilience, respectful
relationships, the use of digital technologies and the capacity for critical and creative
thinking and expression.
More information about the Victorian Curriculum can be found at the following
website address:
http://victoriancurriculum.vcaa.vic.edu.au/
This year, student reports will be presented in a new format because we have changed
to a new software program. The new format is easy to read and understand but if you
need anything clarified, please talk to your child’s classroom teacher.
Parent-teacher Interviews
Parent-teacher interviews will be conducted from Monday 24th July to Thursday 27th
July. Classroom teachers are organising their own interview times and booking forms
will be sent home at the start of Term 3. We have changed the timing of interviews to
make them more productive and focused on future learning goals Attending
interviews helps to strengthen the home–school partnership and it is an important
way of showing your child that you are interested in their learning. It also gives you
the opportunity to seek further feedback on your child’s progress or discuss any
concerns.

GRADE REPORTS
Grade Prep 1A & 2B: It seems the week has flown by very quickly after having last Monday off. We have been on safari with zebras this week, learning many new and interesting facts about them. Our favourite thought was that they do actually indeed look like keys on a piano with their black and white stripes. There is lots of interesting animal writing occurring across the community. Preps are becoming much more confident with writing their own simple animal sentences and listening carefully for sounds to write words themselves. Year 1 started to write a Zippy the Zebra adventure, while Year 2 wrote about making a new animal discovery. In Maths Prep/One have been continuing with subtraction and discussing lots of different strategies that can be used to solve problems. Year 2 have been doing addition with carrying. We also spent some time exploring mass and using the balance scales in our classrooms. Remember there is no school next Monday and Tuesday, so enjoy your extra long weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone back again next Wednesday!
Grade 3C & 4D: This week in Grade 3 and 4 our public speaking skills were put to the test. All students have been developing their speeches over the past 3 weeks and finally reached the week of presentation. For the Grade 3’s this was their first crack at competing in a speech competition. All students really shone in the classroom and most
put nerves aside to show promise as future leaders of the school. Each one should be proud of their efforts. The winner will go onto the Lion’s Club annual speaking competition in the coming weeks. We wish them luck. This week we have also completed our On Demand testing in the aim to identify improvement areas of the children over Semester 1. All students are commended on the work and persistence they put in to our testing, with results showing positive outcomes. In Maths, this week Grade 3 have focused on the area of mass, measuring items around the classroom. Grade 4 have focused on finding equivalent fractions and beginning to add and subtract fractions when they had even or different denominators. Finally, our Inquiry projects are completed and are up for display in the old Prep Room. Students have done an excellent job at creating these
projects and have shown real class in execution. Well done Grade 3 and 4. If you would like to visit in the morning or afternoon early next week, projects will be up for viewing and you are more than welcome. Another action packed week down. Three to go.
Grade 5E : This short week as been fantastic! This week in Grade Five, we have been busy! In Reading and Writing, we have been learning all about different themes in a text like Honesty, Adventure, Family and Magic and there are so many more we cannot even count them all! In Grade 5/6 we have been doing Earn and Learn, which has been extremely fun!!! Last but not least, Inter School sports are on again today and we have handball, which went very well 2 weeks ago, and we also have netball and softball. I HOPE WE ALL GET A WIN *** BUT IT’S ALL ABOUT FUN ***
From the two awesome people Saraiah and Emma
Grade 6F: We have had a very busy week this week. We had a great time at the Netball tournament with our Division 4 mixed team winning the competition. In Earn and Learn we finally got paid and got 2 jelly beans. Today we have Round 2 of Interschool Sport. Good Luck everyone!
