3126 DITA Engine. The Cat 3126 deliversreliable power with low emissions,excellent fuel economy, and traditionalCaterpillar durability.

Reversed Orientation. Engine orientationis reversed for improved balance andstability, particularly on slopes. It alsoallows easier servicing of engine andhydraulic components.

Turbocharger. Enhances performanceand engine efficiency, especially at highaltitudes, by increasing air supply tothe cylinders for excellent combustion.

Aftercooler. Jacket water aftercoolerreduces smoke and emissions byproviding cooler, more efficientcombustion. This extends the life ofthe piston rings and cylinder bores.

Proven Axles. Caterpillar designedand manufactured axles are also usedon B-Series Wheel Skidders. Heavyduty axle (optional on the 533, standardon the 543) allows high flotation anddual-tire use.

Single-Speed Transmission.The Hydraulic Speed Controleliminates the need to shift betweengears. The operator simply selects theworking range that precisely matchesthe terrain and application. Infinitelyvariable speeds reduce wheel spin andenvironmental impact.

Transfer Case. The single speed transfercase improves reliability over two speeddesigns, and maximizes operator controlby offering a greater range of workingspeeds.

Brake Components. Brake componentsare housed inside the front axle,protecting them from dirt, dust and wetground conditions. Inboard brakes allowfor splash lubrication and cooling, arevirtually maintenance free, and providereliable brake performance in the mostdemanding logging applications.

Drive Shaft. The large, rugged driveshaft has proven its durability in otherCat forest machines.

Final Drives. Heavy-duty inboard finaldrives are protected from the harshlogging environment, and use splashoil lubrication and cooling. Thisconfiguration makes wheel and tireremoval and installation easier.

Power TrainThe 533 and 543 Wheel Feller Bunchers combine the Cat 3126 DITA engine and HydraulicSpeed Control for relentless pulling power.

Load Sensing Hydraulics. A loadsensing variable displacement pumpand pressure compensating systemcontinually monitor hydraulic powerrequirements, and provide hydraulicpower based on demand.

Steering. Smooth, efficient steering.Load sensing steering maximizesmachine performance by directingpower through the steering systemonly when needed.

Differential Locks. Hydraulically engagedindependent front and rear differentiallocks increase maneuverability byimproving traction in poor groundconditions. They reduce tire slip duringturns and reduce tire wear. On-the-goengagement/disengagement allowsoperator to maintain production withoutstopping. A momentary button on theright joystick engages the front axledifferential locks, useful in wet underfootconditions.

Pump Drive. The hydraulic pump drivehas been proven reliable in thousands ofhours of use in Cat track-type loaders.

Saw Hydraulics. Use a dedicated variablepump and variable motor to assureoptimum cutting power and recovery.When disabled, the saw pump provideskidney loop filtration and cooling forthe main hydraulic reservoir.

Filtration. Hydraulic fluids are filteredat the case drain, at the main returnand at the charge pump to assurecontaminant-free operation andminimum down time.

Hand Fill Pump. Hand pump forceshydraulic fill oil through a filter, foreasy fills and a clean hydraulic system.

HydraulicsState-of-the-art hydraulic system contributes to machine efficiency and operational easeand productivity.

Hull-Shaped Rear Frame. Bottom andside plating integrated into a hull-shapedstructure for greater strength. A highpercentage of robotic welding ensuresconsistent, high quality welds.

Water Tank. Incorporated into therear bumper, the water tank suppliespressurized water to a spray nozzlein the cab.

Hitch. The 533/543 center sectiondurability has been proven in the fieldon other Cat forest machines. Thebottom hitch has large double-taperedroller bearings for high capacity anddurability.

Front Frame. Tough front frame providesthe platform to support the lift arms andfeller head.

Lift Arms. Wide spacing betweenlift arms reduces stresses in the frontframe, especially when handling largediameter trees.

Ground Clearance. Maximized groundclearance improves maneuverabilityand avoids damage. Full belly guardsprotect all undercarriage components.Hinged guards make servicing easy,and fasteners are recessed for protectionfrom debris.

OPS/FOPS/ROPS. Operator ProtectionStructure, Falling Object Protectionand Roll-Over Protection guards offersoperator and machine protection.

Welded Tanks. Fuel and hydraulictanks are securely welded to the frameto increase frame stiffness.

HF Head Structure. HF frames arefabricated of high-tensile steel forminimum weight and maximumrigidity, and constructed from heavyduty box sections for durability.

Shear Head. The HS20 offers a low-cost solution for pulpwood felling bycombining powerful, stable tree controlwith fast harvesting capabilities.

Design Benefits. The HS head usesa slim design to maximize operatorview of the work area, while protectinghydraulic cylinders, lines and fittings.The compact head also simplifiesmaneuvering between rows andcutting in plantation settings.

Climate Control. Includes standard air-conditioner, heater and defroster.Ventilation system allows the operatorto adjust air flow direction and speed,and mix zones for maximum comfort.

Large Windows. Excellent side andforward view. Reverse sloping windshieldreduces glare and sheds debris. Slidingglass side windows protected by fullmetal screens provide fresh air. Ejectorslots minimize debris buildup behindthe screens.

Steps/Handrails. Wide, durablesteps and robust handrails makecab access easier.

Mounting. The modular OPS/FOPS/ROPS cab is resiliently mounted tothe frame to reduce vibration.

Water System. Spray nozzle locatedto the left of the seat uses pressurizedwater from the bumper water tank.

Centrifugal Pre-Cleaner. Removes largedebris before it reaches the internal aircleaner to provide significant engineprotection.

S•O•SSM and Coolant Sampling Valves.Provide a fast, convenient means ofobtaining uncontaminated fluid samples,which improves analysis reliability.

Radial Seal Air Filters. Hand accessmakes them easy to change, reducingair filter maintenance times.
