Mr. DiEnna, the Executive Director & Founder of the Geothermal National

& International Initiative (GEO-NII), is a business development and marketing

professional with over forty years combined experience in the electric utility

industry and the renewable energy industry. He is a nationally recognized

authority on all aspects of renewable technology and specifically geothermal

heat pumps (GHP), including marketing, creative financing, and the resulting

positive economic and environmental impact that can be derived from the use of

renewable technologies. His expertise is internationally acknowledged as a

valued resource by not only the renewable & geothermal heat pump industry but

also by government officials, both national and international, trade allies, and all

major market segment associations in the promotion of renewable technologies.

Mr. DiEnna has been the Marketing Chairman for the International Ground

Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) for over 20 years and was the driving

force in the creation and development of the Certified GeoExchange Designer

(CGD) certification, a training program for design professionals in GHP

Technology.

Mr. DiEnna, is the originator of the “Road to 30%”, a program designed to

increase the market share, of ghp’s to 30%. Mr. DiEnna is involved in about

30% of all commercial geothermal heat pump projects in the North America and

consults to numerous companies and trade associations. He has worked on

proving that renewable energy technologies can provide our nation with a

“Triple E” solution of, Energy Independence, Environmental Security and

Economic Prosperity, now and for generations to come and has participated in

developing Renewable Portfolio Standards in over 10 States.

In January of 2010, Mr. DiEnna, working under a contract to the

Department of Energy, through Oak Ridge National Laboratory, developed a

trade mission to India in support of the GHP Industry. While there he

established an Indian Chapter of the International Ground Source Heat Pump

Association (IGSHPA). He returned to India in 2011 to deliver geothermal heat

pump training to 20 industry professionals. He has continued to work with DOE

& ORNL on the development of a sustainable infrastructure, through training, to

support the advancement of GHP technology in India and conducted Certified

GeoExchange Designer (CGD) training for design professionals in September,

of 2012 as the next step in infrastructure development. Mr. DiEnna was recently

the “Keynote” speaker at ACRECONF 2013, for the Indian government, to

discuss mandating the use of GHP technology in all government buildings.

Mr. DiEnna is also working for the Department of Energy as a peer

reviewer for geothermal projects both nationally and internationally. Mr.

DiEnna was awarded the “Legend in Energy” distinction by the Association of

Energy Engineers for his work with renewables and specifically geothermal

heat pump technology.

Mr. DiEnna has also worked with the US Commerce Department to assist

them in their negotiations for an environmental goods agreement within the

World Trade Organization that would liberalize tariffs on climate change

addressing products and services such as geothermal heat pumps.

In 2006, Mr. DiEnna was appointed by the Secretary of Energy, to serve as a

member of the Federal Energy Management Advisory Committee (FEMAC),

representing renewable energy. FEMAC was formed to advise the Department

of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) on defining strategy

for meeting their mandates and objectives. In 2007 he was appointed to the

Asian Pacific Partnership (APP) on the Renewable Energy & Building

Efficiency task forces and is currently working with them to promote the

increased use of renewable technology in China, India and Australia. He is also

working with the Federal Ministry for the Environment of the German

Government on the increased use of renewable technology.

He recently testified in front of the NYC Council Environmental Protection

Committee on legislation for the expansion of geothermal heat pump

technology in the five borough area. He assisted in the composition of that

legislation, which was recently signed into law by Mayor Bloomberg. Mr.

DiEnna is currently working with the NY Public Service Commission (PSC) for

the adoption of ghp technology, as a renewable technology in the NY RPS

mandate.

Previously, as Director of the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium, a group

formed by the Clinton Administration, Mr. DiEnna was responsible for the

development and implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding with

numerous Federal, State and Local government agencies. He also developed a

State, as well as the Federal Schools Initiative Program which promoted ground

source energy technologies at the State Department of Education level.

Mr. DiEnna was responsible for the multi year, million dollar contract, with

NYSERDA, to promote renewable energy technologies in New York State. He

has spearheaded state wide projects in California, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania,

Maryland and Illinois. Mr. DiEnna is currently working with legislators in both

NY and NJ in implementing ghp technology in the aftermath of Super Storm

Sandy.

BIO Benito Gonzalez Account Representative, Baroid Industrial Drilling Products Born in Kalamazoo Michigan but raised in South Texas. I attended Texas A&M Kingsville University and completed bachelors in Industrial Technology with a minor in Business Administration in 3 years. In 1995, began teaching Industrial Technology and Computers to secondary students at the age of 21 and attended UT Brownsville to obtain a secondary teaching certificate. In the summer of 1999 during my summer break from teaching I joined the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and served as an enlisted member at Station South Padre Island on the weekends.

On September 11, 2001 my high school students and I witnessed the tragic attacks unfold and one month later was recalled for Operation Enduring Freedom to provide port security for outbound military equipment and protect critical port infrastructure. In 2012, I was commissioned to become an officer and spent the next 5 years serving as a Search and Rescue Controller and an Operational Planner till October 2008.

That same year upon my release from Coast Guard Active duty I was recruited into Halliburton by a graduate peer and became a Field Service Representative for Baroid Drilling Fluids PSL in South Texas which services the Oil and Gas Industry. I was responsible for overseeing fluid conditions on Oil and Gas Drilling Rigs, and mixed oil based fluids for one of 3 mixing plants in the region. During the oil and gas downturn in 2009 an opportunity arose to interview with the Baroid IDP group and I was fortunate to get hired the following year.

I have been with Halliburton for approximately 5 years and am working with IDP as an account representative in Fort Worth, Texas. I have reached the 15 year mark with the Coast Guard as a Lieutenant currently drilling in Port of Houston as a readiness manager. I am on the brink of completing my graduate thesis to complete a Masters in Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

Baroid IDP to me is an extended tight-knit family and there’s a lot of pride and hard work that goes into our organization. The same can be said of my distributors and customers in Texas. I have learned and continue to learn as much from them as they have from me. I really enjoy that my job is extremely dynamic and presents countless challenges. There is a very rewarding feeling when you are able to provide solutions for the customers and to know that you participated in providing a service that ultimately provides water for a community or some other function not possible without being able cross under a river or major highway.

I have been married for 10 years and have 7 year old son. My hobbies include hunting, fishing, and camping but my passion is restoring and collecting classic cars. Over the past decade I have restored over 20 classic automobiles.
