A place of peace and spiritual comfort
Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center
The world-class Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center soon will offer the community extraordinary, healing care and cardiovascular advances. Patients and families will find a place of spiritual comfort, peace, reflection and healing meditation in the center’s chapel, to be located at the entrance of the building. The chapel also will serve as a place of worship for Mercy’s community of doctors, caregivers and patients, as well as for the Sisters of Mercy, whose commitment to and care of Sacramento’s most vulnerable populations have been unbroken for more than a century.
The chapel’s modern design will reflect the rich heritage and Catholic identity of the Sisters of Mercy, while welcoming people of all faiths who seek renewal and solace. Among the prominent features will be a series of inspiring, stained-glass windows —to be moved from the hospital’s existing chapel—featuring Advent, Lent, Easter and Pentecost.
