One of this year’s forerunners in spa trends is the integration of natural elements and the natural environment.

Eco spas are offering a new and innovative approach to thetraditional spa environment, and are therefore becoming increasingly popular. Eco spas implement the reuse of raw materials such as recycled wood, water, and stone.

This trend arose as a response to the consumer’s demand for a more environmentally conscious service industry.

This trend also brought about an increase in the use of natural stimulants to produce altered states of consciousness.

Another leading trend in the spa and wellness industry is the use of new technologies, usually aimed towards recovery and restoration of the body.

Most of the new technologies incorporate freezing cycles, often by using short-term exposure to extreme low tempera-tures to encourage muscle recovery and anti-aging properties.

Some of the most popular services offered at spas include massages, facials, and various other aesthetic procedures.

Procedures span anywhere from the cutaneous sur-face to deep tissue stimulation. Spas and wellness cen-ters are increasingly offering cosmetic procedures such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and injectables.

Other procedures offered are more extensive, such as liposuction, cool-sculpting, and laser hair removal.

Every year, new trends arise in the spa + wellness industries that lead to the development of new practices and services.

One of the leading trends for 2016 is the implementa-tion of teen and children’s spas, which allow for par-ents to not have to worry about separate child care.

Another trend is the use of various Native American and eth-nic rituals, such as the temazcal ritual in order to achieve spiritual and mental clarity. Many of these rituals are of-ten accompanied by the use of drugs, such as marijuana and DMT, which allow for altered states of consciousness.
