The vision of Southend Islamic Academy is to educate and inspire the next forward-thinking generation of young Muslims to live by the precepts of their faith and be exemplary community ambassadors for it.

Qur’an
“This is the Book (the Qur’an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqoon [the pious]
[Quran Al-Baqarah 2:2]
The whole Qur’an is a miracle from the shortest to the longest surah. The reading of Qur’an with proper intonation, pronounciation of letters while observing tajweed and applying the teachings in real life should be the goal for every Muslim.
We will be covering the book of Tas-heelut Tajweed and other sources.

Aqeedah (Islamic creed)
“ To believe in Allah (swt), His angels, His books, His messengers, the last Day and believing in the good and bad (that unfolds) according to taqdeer.” [Muslim]
The key to the doors of paradise is belief. If our beliefs are incorrect or incomplete, though we may perform the deeds of a Muslim, look like a Muslim and even have a Muslim name, we will not be judged as such by Allah (swt).
We will be covering content from the book of Tas-Heelul Aqaa-id. There are 12 volumes that we will be going through.

Fiqh
Allah (swt) has commanded us to worship and obey Him. He sent Prophet Muhammed (swt) to teach us how to obey and worship Him. We cannot worship Allah (swt) according to our own understanding, it needs to be in accordance to the laws of Allah (swt). The rules and regulations which outline the method of worship and obedience are termed as ‘Fiqh’.
We will be covering from the book of Fiqh. There are 12 volumes in this series.

Adab/ Akhlaq
Muslim manners are derived from the teachings of Allah (swt) and His Prophet (swt). The noble character of the prophet (swt) is based on the Qur’an. If we follow, His example we will be following the Qur’an. The prophet has said that “Fear of Allah and good manners will admit us into Jannah”
We will be covering from the book of Tas-Heelul Akhlaq wa aadaab. There are 10 volumes in this series.

Ta’rikh (Islamic History)
The Qur’an contains various commands relating to wor-ship, monetary dealings and special conduct as well as stories of people in the past. The Qur’an informs us of the mission of prophets of Allah (swt) and how communities responded to their call. “Verily there is a lesson for people of intelligence in their stories” [Sura Yunus] We will be covering from the book of Tas-Heelut Taa-reekh. There are 12 volumes in this series. The Topics that will be taught are:

Du’a
“ And when my servants ask you concerning me, [tell them] I am indeed near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls..” [Al-Quran 2:187]
Du’a or prayer is to invoke Allah (swt) for any matter at any time of the day. We are encouraged by Islam to ask anything at any time of the day without hesitation. Du’a makes one humble because when we make Du’a, we surrender ourselves to Allah by our will.
We will be covering from the book of Tas-Heelul Du’a and ‘A child's gift’.

Story time
We will be introducing an interactive story time session for the children where we will go through the extensive collections of books especially catered towards children. We will use PowerPoint/ videos to highlight key Islamic concepts.

Mosque polices
Essex Jamme Masjid has detailed polices that outline the behaviour and educational requirements and responsibilities regarding parents, students and instructors. The centre seeks to foster a culture of learning and responsibility and thus adherence to these polices is taken very seriously and any breach of them may result in dismissal of students through strong disciplinary action. Parents are required to know the new terms and conditions and agree to it by going through each point with their children.
Children must come on time for lessons and it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure sure this happens as classes will start 10:15am promptly. No student will be allowed to enter the classroom after 10.15am. ( All entrance gates will be closed at 10.15am. If any children are dropped outside the gate after 10.15am parents will be called to take their child home) Parents have to drop their child inside the classroom and collect their children after Zuhr prayer from pickup point. (no more dropping and pickup allowed from outside the mosque boundary, children will remain inside the classroom until they have been picked up). 3 strike rule in regards to discipline, 1. The child will receive a warning, 2. They will be sent home, 3. There will be a meeting with the parents to resolve the matter or they will be expelled from the lessons permanently. No toys, electric gadgets or mobile phones will be allowed. No eating, chewing or soft drinks will be allowed during lesson time Parents must pay the fees in advance promptly per terms (full in advance or 4 instalments) Parents must pay for the materials needed for the lessons. The materials that will be given to the children are items such as books, qaeedah, juz’amma, prayer books, syllabus etc. Children misbehaving in lessons will result in teachers giving detention to the child. They can keep them in the mosque for a maximum of one hour. Children will be rewarded for good work. Children will have tests for each subject. Parents will be notified of their children’s absence. Teachers will give homework to all children and it is the responsibility of all parents to make sure that the homework is done. Concerns of parents regarding the teachers or lessons should be addressed to the secretary of committee Children in future may be taken out for educational trips. The committee members will contact parents regarding any issues. If you decided to take the child out of the lessons due to holiday, illness, weddings, visiting relatives please notify us in advance. If the student is absent unauthorised for 3 consecutive weeks their name will be taken off the registration. If your child suffers from a disability, learning difficulty or any other medical condition it must be stated on the application form and informed to the management. All students must wear the madrasa uniform as describe at the time of enrolment. Parents are required to provide their child with light refreshments to have during break. The terms and conditions are subject to the change at anytime by giving prior notice.

New changes (summary)
Academy opening terms:
