MaruthmalaiPopular 12th century hill temple dedicated to Hindu god Murugan, situated near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. It is considered as 7 House of Lord Murugan. Like most Murugan temples, the temple is situated upon a hillock, part of the Western Ghats about 12 km west from the city of Coimbatore. Thai Poosam and other Murugan festivals are celebrated.
Dhyanalinga, Isha Yoga Centre, Velliangiri FoothillsThe Isha Yoga Center, founded under the Isha Foundation is set at the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains (about 30 Kms from Coimbatore). This is a popular destination which attracts people from all parts of the world and is unique in its offering of yoga.
Siruvani WaterfallsWaterfalls and the dam named after them are located 35 km (22 mi) west of Coimbatore in the Western Ghats. The reservoir at Siruvani was built for Tamil Nadu by the Kerala government with funds collected by the Tamil Nadu government to meet the drinking water requirements of Coimbatore. The gateways on either side of the road across the dam are typical of the Kerala and Tamil architectural styles. Siruvani is also home to certain tribals like the Mudugars and Irulars. Water from Siruvani River is
renowned for its taste and mineral properties, and the view from the falls and the dam is a tourist attraction.
CoonoorCoonoor is a Taluk and a municipality in the Nilgiris district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is known for its production of Nilgiri tea. Coonoor is located at an altitude of 1,850 m (6,070 ft) above sea level, and is the second largest hill station in the Nilgiri hills after Ooty. It is an ideal base for a number of trekking expeditions leading into the Nilgiris.
OotyThe misty blue haze of Nilgiris and the fragrant rain forests lure millions of tourists to Ooty every year. It is situated at an altitude of 2268 meters above sea level. The smaller hill resorts adjoining Ooty - Coonoor & Kotagiri have the same dewy fresh mornings and breezy calm evenings of Ooty. Other tourist attractions are Nilgiri Mountain Railway, Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, Doddabetta, Pine Forest,

Tea Factory & Pykara Lake. Trout fishing is a popular sport at Avalanche Lake about 24kms away from Ooty. Accommodation is available in various categories from star hotels to budget hotels and dormitories.
PARAMBIKULAMThe project consists of a series of dams interconnected by tunnels and canals for harnessing the Parambikulam, Aliyar, Nirar, Sholiyar, Thunakadavu, Thekkadi and Palar rivers, lying at various altitudes. The scheme is an outstanding example of engineering skill. It is located in Anamalai range and is ideal for picnics. Overnight stay is possible in forest rest houses. A tree-top house provides accommodation for the adventurous.
Topslip & Anamalai Wildlife SanctuaryA picturesque locale in the Anamalai Hills. It is about 37 Kms from Pollachi (about 90 Kms from Coimbatore). There are also many places of scenic beauty such as Karain shola, Anaikunthi shola, Grass hills, water falls, groves, teak forests, estates, dams and reservoirs. The wildlife sanctuary is situated at an altitude of 1,400 meters in the western ghats near Pollachi. It has various kinds of exotic fauna like elephant, gaur, tiger, panther, sloth bear,
pangolin, black headed oriole, green pigeon and civet cat. The Amaravathy reservoir in the Anamalai has a large number of crocodiles. Arrangements are available at Topslip to take tourists around the Sanctuary on elephant back or by van. There are bungalows available within the sanctuary for accommodation. For thrill seekers, stay is also available in a tree house.
Mudumalai Wild Life SanctuarySituated 67 kms away from Coimbatore, the sanctuary’s dense vegetation and favourable climate attract a variety of wild animals like tigers, leopards, elephants, deer, snakes and birds. Elephant rides are a major draw. Dormitory and hotel accommodation are available within the sanctuary.
MunnarMunnar is a town in the Western Ghats mountain range in India’s Kerala state. A hill station and former resort for the British Raj elite, it’s surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations established in the late 19th century. Eravikulam National Park, a habitat for the endangered mountain goat Nilgiri tahr, is home to the Lakkam Waterfalls, hiking trails and 2,695m-tall Anamudi Peak.
