RULES & REGULATIONS
• These shows will be run under the rules of
NEHC.
• The show commi ee members or officials will
not be responsible for any accident that may
occur to any animal, person or property, and
each exhibitor shall hold them harmless and
indemnify them against any legal proceedings
or liabili es arising from any such accident or
loss of property caused to or by property or
employee of such exhibitor
• No Exhibitor or person shall approach a Judge
to discuss a decision or other ma ers unless he
first obtains permission from the show steward.
Any exhibitor or person disregarding this rule
may be asked to cancel all entries and forfeit
entry fees. Judge’s decisions are final!
• Horses must be entered under recorded name
of their owners or lessees of record. Registra‐
on papers must be available. All equita on
and other classes restricted specifically to junior
exhibitors are open only to juniors who have
not reached their 18th birthday by 12/01/17.
• Please bring your pony and junior hunter
measurement cards and amateur owner cer fi‐
ca on. Numbers cannot be issued without
them.
• All pre‐entries are due by 8:00 pm the Thurs‐
day before the show date, whether by fax, mail,
or hand delivery, all entries received a er that
me will be charged a one‐ me $25.00 post
entry fee per show.
• At check in on the day of the show, you must
provide an open check made payable to SSHC.
Numbers will not be issued without an open
check or other form of pre‐payment.
• Proof of nega ve coggins must accompany
each horse as it enters the show grounds. Tests
must be dated within 6 months for out‐of‐state
and 12 months for MA horses. Please include
registra on numbers, coggins numbers and sex
of entry on your entry form. Numbers will
not be issued without this informa on!
• The horse show commi ee reserves the right to vary or change the judges and to decline any entry. Also the commi ee reserves the right to cancel any classes where there are less than 3 entries and to divide or combine any class in the best interest of the show. Equita on clas‐ses may be combined if less than 4 entries in a division. • The commi ee reserves the right not to delay classes due to conflicts and not to allow subs ‐tu on of classes or horses. • The commi ee reserves the right to deter‐mine trophy/money or placing awards up to 6 placings in each class. NEHC Pleasure Classes are presented a cer ficate. • Schooling permi ed in authorized areas only. Courteous behavior is expected from all exhibi‐tors. • All riders are to dress appropriately in both english and western classes. • Classes will be split for the canter / lope at the discre on of the judge. • All dogs must be leashed at all mes. • Anyone who shows in a class in which he/she is not properly entered with the show secretary shall be charged double the entry fee. • In Hunter Seat equita on, ribbons won in classes not to jump shall not affect a rider’s status in classes over jumps. However ribbons won in classes over jumps shall affect a rider’s status in classes not to jump. • Horses entered and not exhibited shall forfeit fees, unless the commi ee is presented with a Veterinary cer ficate or in equita on only a physician’s cer ficate in the case of the rider. A full refund of entry fees less a $25.00 office charge will be made upon receipt of said cer ficates. Once a horse or rider has shown in a class or division it is no longer eligible for a refund. Refunds will be mailed a er the show. • Hunter courses will consist of post and rails, walls, gates, pickets and brush. • The show commi ee reserves the right to vary the hunter courses, move classes between Hunter Ring I and Ring II, and change the obsta‐cles when it shall deem that such a varia on or change is in the best interest of the exhibitors. • To be eligible for an equita on stake or championship class, the rider must have shown in at least one other qualifying class in the division.

• To be eligible for a pleasure stake or champi‐
onship class, the rider must have shown in at
least one other qualifying class in the division.
• GR801 Dress. It is compulsory for all
persons at federa on licensed hunter, jumper
or hunter/jumper compe ons when mount‐
ed anywhere on the compe on grounds, to
wear properly fastened protec ve headgear
which meets or exceeds ASTM (American
Society for tes ng and materials) / SEI (Safety
Equipment Ins tute) standards for equestrian
use and carries SEI tag. It must be properly
fi ed with harness secured. BOD 1/14/13
effec ve 4/1/13. Any rider viola ng this rule at
any me must immediately be prohibited from
further riding un l such headgear is properly in
place. It is the responsibility of the parent or
guardian of the junior exhibitor to see to it
that the headgear worn complies with such
standard.
• Under Massachuse s law, an equine profes‐
sional is not liable for an injury to, or the death
of, par cipant in equine ac vi es, pursuant to
sec on 2D of Chapter 128 of the General Law.
• NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR CONTROLLED
SUBSTANCES ALLOWED ON PREMISES.
• Checks returned for any reason will be
subject to a $25.00 fee.
• Any protest must be submi ed in wri ng to
the Show Manager, postmarked within 5 days
of the close of the show, accompanied by a
non‐refundable $25.00 fee. All protests will be
reviewed by the show commi ee.
• You may pick up a trash bag at the entry
booth. Please take home your personal
trash, no trash is to be le on the grounds.
YEAR END AWARDS ELIGIBILTY
1) In the case of Equita on classes, the Rider
must be a member whose dues are paid BE‐
FORE points will accrue for Year End Awards.
2) In the case of Equita on classes, Riders
must show in 2 out of 3 SSHC Raynham shows
in the same point class to be eligible for Year
End Awards in that class. The affiliated ‐
Hanover Hunt, or Mass Classic show does NOT
fulfill this minimum requirement.
3) In the case of Performance/Hunter/Pleasure
classes, the Owner and Rider/Handler, must be
Members whose dues are paid AND the Horse/
Pony must be Recorded with SSHC before points
will accrue for Year End Awards.
4) In the case of Performance/Hunter/Pleasure
classes, the Horse/Pony must be shown in 2 out
of 3 SSHC Raynham shows in the same point
class to be eligible for Year End Awards in that
class. Mul ple riders are permi ed, however,
each rider must be a member. The affiliated
Hanover Hunt, or Mass Classic show does NOT
fulfill this minimum requirement.
5) The Hanover Hunt and Mass Classic Horse
Show is affiliated with SSHC. Points from SSHC
recognized divisions that run at Hanover Hunt
and/or Mass Classic will be added to the point
totals for SSHC Year End Awards. Neither
Hanover Hunt, or Mass Classic Shows count for
the minimum requirement of 2 out of 3 SSHC
shows. Classics held at Hanover Hunt or Mass
Classic DO NOT count for SSHC Year End
Awards. For info on the date/ class list, contact
Hanover Hunt & Riding Club at Briggs Stable,
Hanover MA.

OPEN HORSE IN HAND DIVISION Rated NEHC AA, MHC C — Open to hunter and
saddle‐type horses. Entries shall be judged
individually standing, and then at a walk and
jog on a line.

Rated NEHC AA, MHC AA — Entries shall be
two years old or under and all ages shall be as
of previous January 1. Will be required to
move individually with no more than two

SSHC GREEN HORSE WALK/TROT DIVISION Unrated NEHC, MHC — Open to all horses in their first and second year of showing. Must not have ever been shown in a class that re‐quires cantering. Horse can only be shown in Green Horse Divisions; horse may not show in other walk‐trot classes. To be shown at a walk, trot, or jog. May be asked to back. Open to all breeds and disciplines. 37. SSHC Green Horse Walk/Trot Pleasure 40. SSHC Green Horse Walk/Trot Pleasure Championship. Must have shown in class #37. WALK AND TROT DIVISION 11 & Over Equita on Rated NEHC A, Pleasure Rated NEHC B, Equita on Rated MHC A, Pleasure Rated MHC C. Open to riders who are 11/18 years of age and over as of 12/01/17, who have not competed in any other show or com‐pe on in which they have cantered or loped in the last 3 years. 287. M&S 2’6” CHILDREN’S/ADULT MEDAL ‐ Open to Riders on horses or ponies that are not compe ng at the same show in any class with fences at 3’ or higher.. No cross entry of rider into the M&S Children’s Pony Medal at the same show. May be divided if three entries in each sec on. 288. BIT OF STRAW HUNTER CLASSIC ‐ Fence height‐ 2’6” ‐ Juniors or Amateurs. No cross entry into M&S Adult Hunter or Children’s Hunter Classic. Must be held as a separate, two round classic. (i.e., the first round may not be a designated class of a division). 292. M&S CHILDREN’S HUNTER CLASSIC – You must ride in the Children’s Hunter Division in order to enter the Classic. The second trip of the hunter division is the first round of the Classic. Those entering M&S will receive 2 scores for the second trip of the Hunter Division, one for the Hunter Stake and one that will go toward the first round of the Classic. The numerical score will be added to the score from the Classic round to determine a final score and placings.

to be shown over a course of ten fences with
the first round judged on performance, hunter
pace, style, quality, substance and movement.
The course should include at least one in and
out, one bending line and one unrelated dis‐
tance. The obstacles are to simulate those
found in a hunt field. Natural obstacles may be
used. The top 4 or 25% from the first round will
return to jump a handy hunter round of eight
obstacles, which may include at least two of the
following: trot jump, ght turn op on, clever
op ons for jump approached, halt and/or back,
and walk jump. Judged on style, brilliance and
handiness. Minimum of 4 riders needed to hold
each class.
289. MHC 2’6” Hunter Derby Open to Junior
riders or Amateur Adults only.

Ring I & Ring II Classics are double judged. Held the 1st class a er lunch in Ring I. Classic Points to be award‐
ed only if entry selects division which points should be applied. Points will be forfeited if not disclosed by the
end of that show. EXCLUDED – Classic points may not be included in the Year End point totals in Jr. Exhibi‐
tor’s Hack #s 41, 48 or Road Hack #s 45, 49. Color Breed exhibitors and Arabian/Half‐Arabian exhibitors may
only apply points from one Classic to the Color Breed or Arabian/ Half‐Arabian Year End Points.
We want to encourage everyone to show in whatever Classic Classes they are eligible for! Please note that if
you show in more than one Classic, you must apply the points earned from each Classic to a different class
you are showing in. You may not apply more than one set of Classic points to a division. If you are not show‐
ing in mul ple divisions, then the excess points will be forfeited.
601. Saddleseat Pleasure Classic: MAY
Open to all breeds and all age riders. To be ridden in Saddleseat equipment. Points may only be applied to a
pleasure class that the horse was ridden Saddleseat. Points may only be applied to a class in which the same
horse and rider combina on compete under the same equipment used in the classic.
603. Hunter Under Saddle Pleasure Classic: JUNE
Open to all breeds and all age riders. To be ridden in Hunt Seat equipment. Points may only be applied to a

The above classics are qualifiers for the MHC Pleasure Horse Show and Classic Finals to be held in September
at Briggs Stable, Hanover, MA. Any rider can qualify by placing from 1st to 8th place. Riders MUST BE mem‐
