I hope all of our families had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We are looking forward to a very exciting term where our students will have the opportunity to participate in a number of school based initiatives. There has been updated guidelines from the NSW DEC which have been distributed to all public schools for this term. The guidelines remain very similar however there are changes: * The visitors form which must be signed declaring that they have not been in Victoria. * The additional cleaning is continuing this term and we will be enforcing the personal hygiene measures with our students and staff. * We are still unable to have large events with crowds of parents which is disappointing but we will still be offering these events to our students eg. Book Character Parade with students only. * PPP - we are still unable to have Kindergarten transition programs so unfortunately PPP is unable to start at this stage. We will be emailing our PPP parents to keep them up to date with any guideline changes and all Kindergarten transition information. * School overnight excursions are still on hold this term. Our Year 4 Lake Ainsworth excursion has been cancelled. We are trying to negotiate a new date in Term 4. We are still planning our Year 6 Sydney excursion hoping restrictions might be lifted by Term 4. * Students need to bring a water bottle as bubblers are still closed. * Non essential visitors are still not allowed on school grounds. * Parents should not congregate at school dropoffs and pickup and remember to practise social distancing. In particular at our Infants campus parents should not be lingering in the morning on school grounds. This is not allowed within these guidelines. * P&C meetings face to face are still on hold. This term beginning week 2 we will be operating a Breakfast Club on our Infants campus which is very exciting for our students and our staff. The Breakfast Club will operate using the same guidelines as the Primary Campus. Mrs Shorrock will be coordinating this initiative in the infants and Mrs Dodd will continue to coordinate this initiative in the primary. The Breakfast Clubs will operate Monday to Thursday and are a free service for our families. Our thanks to Mrs Shorrock and Mrs Dodd for their organisation of this terrific initiative in our school. In Week 3 all NSW Public Schools will be celebrating Education Week. The theme is Learning Together. In this year of bushfires, floods and COVID-19, the key messages of Education Week 2020 are: *Schools are the cornerstone of communities. *Parents and carers are our partners in learning. Schools and families benefit from strong, respectful relationships where responsibility for student learning is shared. *Change and resilience. *Our teachers and students are lifelong learners, collaborating in a positive learning environment to achieve their best. Learning together makes us strong and creates resilient communities. *Connect better and learn together. *Our school staff are dedicated professionals who know, value and care for all students. Technology enables learning together anywhere, any time. During Education Week we normally invite our parents to visit our classrooms and our students perform in a wonderful concert. Unfortunately this year we are not allowed to have parents visit our school in large numbers. Our staff will still be participating in a number of activities throughout this week to recognise and celebrate Education Week 2020. Welcome back to Term 3. I hope all of our families had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We are looking forward to a very exciting term where our students will have the opportunity to participate in a number of school based initiatives.

There has been updated guidelines from the NSW DEC which have been distributed to all public schools for this term. The guidelines remain very similar however there are changes:

* The visitors form which must be signed declaring that they have not been in Victoria.

* The additional cleaning is continuing this term and we will be enforcing the personal hygiene measures with our students and staff.

* School overnight excursions are still on hold this term. Our Year 4 Lake Ainsworth excursion has been cancelled. We are trying to negotiate a new date in Term 4. We are still planning our Year 6 Sydney excursion hoping restrictions might be lifted by Term 4.

Take a leisurely stroll down ‘The Link’ at Grafton Shoppingworld during Education Week to see our students art work on showcase. From the3rd – 9th of August.

This week our new school cricket pants have arrived to support our boys and girls cricket teams. Our teams will look very smart when they represent our school in these new navy pants which will match with our school polo shirt.

This term our Primary campus will be participating in the annual Premier’s Sporting Challenge which runs for 10 weeks. All students have received log books which they use to record their daily physical activities in 20 minutes blocks. The log books daily entries accumulate to a weekly result which may be bronze, silver, gold or diamond award. Each student tracks towards an average final award level at the end of 10 weeks. Next term students will then receive a certificate which records their overall result.

This term we have organised a large number of initiatives to support our staff and students. Many of these activities you would recognise as our normal Term 3 activities but they will be operating under the NSW DEC guidelines. This will mean our parents in most cases will NOT be able to attend unless DEC guidelines change but we will be highlighting these with photos for our parents on our Facebook page, website and in our newsletters. Listed below is a calender of events for Term 3:Tuesday 28th July - AFL - Mr ZacekMonday 3rd - 7th August - Education Week the theme is ‘Learning Together’Wednesday 12th August - Rugby League - Mr DurouxTuesday 25th August - Hockey boys and girls - Mr Kelly and Miss Emily RyanWednesday 26th August - Performing Arts Concert for students and staff onlyTuesday 1st September - Book Character Parade No ParentsTuesday 8th September - Soccer girls and boys - Mr Newman and Mr DaviesFriday 4th September - Multicultural Public Speaking School FinalsFriday 18th September - Infants Sports carnival no ParentsTuesday 22nd September - Netball - Mrs HeymanThursday 24th September - Primary Athletics carnival - Barnier ParkTerm 4Tuesday 20th October - Basketball girls and boys - Mr HickeyTuesday 17th November - Cricket girls and boys - Mr Newman and Mr ZacekWe are very excited we can offer our wonderful students these excellent opportunities and we will continue to endeavour to provide as many activities as possible.

Next week our primary students will be participating in Littlescribe’s Mini Writing Festival. This is a unique opportunity to interact with 13 of Australia’s most treasured children authors. Each day students will participate in a workshop where they will meet a new author, focus on a specific writing theme and be given a writing challenge. Some of the authors include Andrew Daddo, Jackie French, Wendy Orr and Deborah Abela.

We have received approval for the installation of two additional walkways on our Infants campus which will provide shelter for our community entering from the Armidale Road entrance and for our students who utilise the walkway to the bus shelter. There will also be a covered area where these 2 walkways meet outside Mrs Walters room. Our Infants office has also been upgraded to provide extra security for our staff. This upgrade occurred this week.

Ms Melissa Page has been offered and accepted an opportunity to work at Induna ETC for the rest of the year. We would like to thank Ms Page for her excellent work as our Instructional Leader - Literacy on our Infants campus throughout the last 3 1/2 years. The Instructional Leader position is currently advertised and I am hoping it will be filled shortly.

Please remember to make sure your child’s winter uniforms are clearly marked with their name. Occasionally students may take home the incorrect jumper. If this is the case please return to school as soon as possible.

Have a great weekMr Peter Hickey Principal3KG Artworks

3KG were reading many books about kindness last term, including a book about Macca the Alpacca. They completed some fantastic Alpaca Artworks for their Kindness Display.

A message from the Infants canteen - If parents could please help with writing out their child’s lunch order before coming to school. The volunteers can’t hear or understand the children and they also struggle to know what they require. This would be greatly appreciated!
