Ag Laghdú an Eisiaimh, an Bhochtaineacht agus na hÉagothroime i gContae Bhaile Átha Cliath Theas
Reducing Exclusion, Poverty and Inequality in South Dublin County
Tá an-áthas orm an bróisiúr ar an tSeachtain um Chuimsiú Sóisialta a sheoladh agus ba mhaith liom aitheantas agus buíochas a thabhairt do na gníomhaireachtaí agus na heagraíochtaí rannpháirteacha go léir ar fud an Chontae.
Is é atá i gceist leis an gCuimsiú Sóisialta ná sochaí a chruthú ina mothaíonn gach duine go bhfuil siad rannpháirteach, go hiomlán agus go cothrom, i ngach gné den saol, agus tá Comhairle Contae Átha Cliath Theas tiomanta do na hiarrachtaí chun an caighdeán maireachtála a choinneáil agus a fheabhsú, do gach duine atá ina chónaí sa Chontae.
Ba mhaith liom gach duine a spreagadh le bheith rannpháirteach sna himeachtaí atá beartaithe agus le cabhrú ionas go n-éireoidh leis an tSeachtain um Chuimsiú Sóisialta i mbliana.
“I am delighted to introduce the Social Inclusion Week Brochure 2011 and I would like to acknowledge and thank all participating agencies and organisations throughout the county.
Social Inclusion is about creating a society where everyone experiences full and equal participation in all aspects of life and South Dublin County Council remains committed to sustaining and enhancing efforts to improve the quality of life of all residents in the county.
I would encourage everyone to get involved in the planned activities and to help make Social Inclusion Week 2011 a success”.
Mayor Caitríona Jones
Méara Caitríona Jones i láthair An tAire Siobhán de Bhurtúin TD, An Roinn Coimirce Sóisialaí ar Chuimsiú Sóisialta Chomhairle Contae Átha Cliath Theas go hoifigiúil ar an 7 Samhain 2011 ag 12.00 p.m. i Halla an Chontae, Tamhlacht. Tá Comhairle Contae Átha Cliath Theas ag obair chun deireadh a chur le míbhuntáiste agus chun feabhas a chur le caighdeán maireachtála gach duine atá ag cónaí sa chontae.
Mayor Caitríona Jones in the presence of Ms. Joan Burton, Minister for Social Protection will officially launch South Dublin County Council Social Inclusion Awareness Week on Monday 7th November 2011 at 12.00 pm in County Hall, Tallaght. Social Inclusion Weeks 2011 Launch
Volunteer!
Make a difference
The European Year of Volunteering is both a
celebration and a challenge. It is a celebration of the
commitment of millions of people in Europe who work
in their communities during their free time without
being paid for example in schools, hospitals, and
sports clubs, protecting the environment, providing
social services and helping people in other countries.
Their efforts and those of the many thousands of
volunteering organisations make a huge difference
to our lives in countless ways. The world would
be much worse off without volunteers. The social
Inclusion unit wishes to congratulate all people who
do volunteer work in South Dublin County.
What is Social Inclusion? The process which ensures that those at risk of poverty and social exclusion gain the opportunities and resources necessary to participate fully in economic, social and cultural life and enjoy a standard of living and well being that is considered normal in the society in which they live.
(Joint Report by the Commission and the Council on Social Inclusion, Office for Official Publications of the European Union).
Who is at risk of Social Exclusion?Ireland’s National Action Plan for Social Inclusion 2007 – 2016 identifies six groups as being at greater risk of social exclusion.
Older People•Ethnic Minorities•Disabled People•Women•Children and Young People•Travellers•
Why Social Inclusion Awareness Week? The purpose of South Dublin County Social Inclusion Awareness Week is to
highlight and promote the positive work that South Dublin County Council and the member agencies of South Dublin County Development Board are involved in to reduce social exclusion and poverty and to provide an understanding of inclusion and diversity in South Dublin County.
Social Inclusion Week has been developed and co-ordinated by South Dublin County Council in co-operation with the County Development Board’s Social Inclusion Network. Core members of the Network include South Dublin County
Council, Dodder Valley (Tallaght) Partnership, CLPN Partnership, FÁS, the South Dublin County
Childcare Committee, Health Services Executive, Disability Federation of Ireland and South Dublin
County Volunteer Centre.

South Dublin Gladiators
This is an inclusive sports club targeting young people aged 4 - 14 with a disability. The group meets every Tuesday evening from 6pm - 7.00pm in Collinstown Sports Complex where they take part in a number of different activities in a fun, safe and most importantly inclusive environment with the emphasis all the time on young people’s “ability”.
In addition to the sports club we are in the process of setting up a Powerchair Soccer Club and a Boccia Club for teenagers and adults to participate in these enjoyable sports and to compete against other teams from around the county and hopefully country.
For more information on any of the above please contact Paula Swayne 086 8292 443 or Alison Silke 086 851 6669 Sports & Recreation Officers, South Dublin County Council
