From the Governor . . . Dear Club Sisters, Ombudsmen & Youth, It is because of you that we can each look forward to our 53rd South Central District Conference once again at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel in Arlington Texas, March 6-8, 2015. We shared “Dreams and Vision” then set Goals and Objectives to make this Conference one that we could “Celebrate Yesterdays & Seize Tomorrows: Informed, Transformed and Reformed.” Governor Holyfield and I have worked together during this 2014-2015 Split Term to ensure that the consistency of South Central District remain the “Proud and Sensational” District of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Incorporated. The 53rd South Central District Conference Theme is …

“Blazing New Pathways: Make it Matter ~ Make it Happen.”

For your enjoyment and convenience, we have provided several changes that we hope will prove to be exciting and useful during your weekend with club sisters across our district. Some of the changes include the following:

A Three-track Leadership Academy for those inspiring to hold offices at the local, district and national levels in leadership as well as within your personal business or profession.

An Opening Celebration and Vocal Arts Competition in an elegant setting that is informative, transformative and reformative. Come early for the Sistership Gathering, Banner Parade and see club Programs Displayed for viewing during the Governor’s Reception and throughout the conference.

Our Youth joining us during the business session to observe and then share just why we are so proud of the sensational opportunities they bring to this district and the national organization.

The requested District-wide Women’s History and Founder’s Day event. “We Speak Your Name & District Awards Luncheon.” We will continue awarding and sharing the HOPE, Community Services, Achievement and Volunteer Service Awards to Women from across the district. Clubs will recognize women in Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Technology and Service in the areas of Health, Education, Employment and Economic Development.

Observance and recognition of our Seven (7) living governors and club presidents as we acknowledge our Seven (7) National Founders and Club Founders during a candle light ceremony.

Attend the Adults and Youth Open Forums – Social Media: Making it Matter in Today’s Society and Law Enforcement: Making the Right Move Happen.

The Life of the District and Life Membership Celebration will matter and happen into the late hours on Saturday night.

Celebrate our Youth in Prayer during the “Versa L. Lacy Prayer Breakfast, Rites of Passage, Rededication and Necrology” Closing.

Once again, we welcome you to our 53rd District Conference. We pray and anticipate you allowing yourself to become “Informed, Transformed and Reformed” in the PROUD and SENSATIONAL Spirit of the South Central District. Sisterly yours,

Patricia B. Maples, Governor South Central District –NANBPWC, Inc.

iii

From the Vice Governor . . . . GREETINGS, to the remarkable ladies, youth and ombudsmen of the Proud and Sensational South Central District of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. CONGRATLULATIONS as we approach the celebration of our 53rd District Conference. Once again the Sheraton Arlington Hotel in Arlington, Texas is the site of the Conference during which we will “Celebrate Yesterdays and Seize Tomorrows: Informed, Transformed, Reformed.” Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Technology and Service (L.E.T.S.) is our adult program focus while the youth focus is Community Service, Higher Education, Activism, Networking, Global Awareness, and Entrepreneurship (C.H.A.N.G.E.). We are eager to examine the projects and programs that each club has implemented in your particular area of the South Central District that will influence the lives of the people living there. The District leadership team and committees are working diligently to ensure that each person in attendance is:

Informed - become knowledgeable of the many services that we provide by the reports given.

Transformed - enthusiastically engaged in all scheduled activities: workshops, competitions, Women’s History Luncheon, Prayer Breakfast, etc.

Reformed – as we share with each other clubs, as well as individual members, will come away from the conference with new and improved ways of executing or implementing programs and projects.

South Central District members come prepared to benefit from the awesome activities that are being planned. I look forward to your presence at our 53rd District Conference and predict that 2015 will be a record-breaking attendance year. We can do it! “Blazing New Pathways: Make It Matter - Make It Happen”. Sisterly,

Lessie M. Terry - Vice Governor

iv

From the District Youth Leader . . . .

Greetings from Geneva Stephens Hayes,

I am a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. In the Great Bayou state we enjoy

good eating and big fun such as Mardi Gras.

I am so happy to serve as Youth Leader for the South Central District,

where we too believe in having a good time as we serve our many

communities by "Letting Change Happen". As your Youth Leader it is my responsibility to make sure that

all of the youth clubs in our seven states are informed on how we must "Blaze New Pathways: Make It

Matter - Make It Happen".

Let's have fun, let’s be safe as we come together in March 2015 for our South Central District conference.

You each are special and your “Thoughts Matter” and we the youth advisors are determined to make your

“Thoughts Happen.”

Thank you for allowing me to be of service.

Blessings,

Geneva S. Hayes Geneva S. Hayes South Central District Youth Leader
