Department of Public Works Support for Business Program

South 60th Street: W. Cold Spring Road to W. Morgan Avenue
Anticipated Start: July 17, 2017 • Anticipated Completion: August 3, 2018
The project is funded and managed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in conjunction with the City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works.
Project Overview:
South 60th Street from West Cold Spring Road to West Morgan Av-enue will be replaced one half of the roadway at a time. The proj-ect will consist of reconstructing South 60th Street from a 4-lane divided roadway to a 2-lane divided roadway with bike lanes and parking. The reconstruction will include grading, base aggregate, concrete pavement, curbs and gutters, and pavement marking. Concrete sidewalks will be replaced in necessary areas.
City services, including garbage pick-up and emergency vehicle access, will be maintained at all times. Deliveries and pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained during construction.
Project Timeline:
The project will be completed over a two-year period.
Year 1 (July 17, 2017- September 29, 2017):
South 60th Street will be reconstructed from West Forest Home Avenue to West Morgan Avenue.

Parking, Pedestrian, and Driveway Access:
On-street parking will not be allowed during construction. Pedestrian
will be placed prior to sidewalk construction. Access to business and residential properties will be maintained during construction.
Working Hours:
Work is allowed from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., in accordance with City of Milwaukee noise requirements. The contractor cannot work outside those hours without prior approval from the Department of Public Works.
Bus Route Information:
Bus route #64 will remain in service throughout construction. Tem-porary bus stops and walkways will be provided in areas where the existing bus stops are located in the work zone. Milwaukee County Transit will install temporary bus stop signs as necessary.
Communication and Contact Information
the work:
• Construction Management Engineer: Will address contractor concerns.
• Construction Project Engineer: Will be on-site full time to oversee the contractor’s work and ensure that the concerns of the public and businesses are being addressed.
• Support for Business Liaison (SBL): Will provide information about the construction project, and share timelines and proce-dures via construction updates with businesses and other key organizations. The SLB also coordinates with the Construction Management Engineer and Project Inspectors to resolve con-cerns from Businesses and residents.
