Anne Elise Thomas is a multi- instrumentalist with a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology specializing in Arabic music. In this interactive presentation, Dr. Thomas will discuss some of the distinctive elements of Arabic music, perform several pieces on qanun (78-stringed lap harp), `ud (Arabic lute) and violin, and share stories of her time living and doing research in Jordan and Egypt.
