up any part of it. It must not add any colors. All it has to be, is a true link between the listener and music in its purest form! We don‘t produce Jazz or Rock cables, altering sound according to specific musi-cal styles. Musicians and sound engineers should be creative. Cables, however, have one task only: To transmit sound signals without any loss.

In our natural scientific approach is the ear the most important benchmark. First priority for us, is to offer the maxi-mum transfer of sound information. Since this criterion is based directly upon the biological function of the ear, different people will perceive it in the same way. During the process, also a maximum of beauty is achieved: The

Our knowledge in material science is of major importance for the development and production of our sound conductors. The atomic composition, the crystalline structure of the metals as well as the properties of the polymers and their interactions with the conductor material must be known. Only in this manner, it is possible to consider all relevant aspects

to achieve an optimum result. Challenging common accepted belief, we often come across fascinating, hardly-known effects. We explore such phenomena and try to imple-ment the latest insights in our products. As a result, we are enlarging the science of electrical engineering with the knowledge of effects based on submicroscopic proc-esses of matter.

The clearer the sound that reaches the ear, the more it moves us. Because all of us at VOVOX are passionate about music, we decided to develop sound conductors: cables optimized to transmit audio signals as purely as possible.

An audio concept must measure up to the human ear. That is why a sound difference that can be measured but not heard, is irrelevant for us. Relevant sound solutions, however, are important for us, even if they contradict common knowledge. We don’t want to turn cables into objects of worship: but the blind tests do show a real difference in sound.

For the best possible signal transmission, we have a wide range of sound conductors for all applications in the audio chain - from the internal wiring of the amplified musical instruments to the loudspeakers at home. It is also our concern to contribute to an improvement in the quality of audio recordings with the use of our products.

Why We Do Not Publish Data Sheets: The intention of data sheets is to provide technical infor-mation to enable a specialist to make an educated and informed decision. Based on our experience, it is not possible to sufficiently characterize the properties of a cable as sound conductor by the technical values com-monly used in electrical engineering. We don‘t pretend that this data is useless, it is just very incomplete. For us, the ear is the benchmark and final decisions should always be based on listening tests. For that reason we have decided not to publish data sheets on our sound conductors and to wait for further progress in measur-ing technology.

The right choice

Many VOVOX® sound conductors are available in a non-shielded ‚direct‘ ver-sion and in a shielded ‚protect‘ version. The shielding prevents from hum or buzz, but at the same time it causes a small loss of sound quality. There are applications, where it‘s mandatory to use shielded cables. On the other hand, especially with balanced cables - even without shielding - problems are in few cases observed. For

that reason, ‚direct‘ sound conductors can offer even better results in many cases.Generally speaking, we suggest using ‚protect‘ sound conductors for all those applications, where otherwise interference would cause problems. In all other cases, the non-shielded ‚direct‘ versions should be favored.

For the following applications please use ‚protect‘ sound conductors:· when interference will necessarily lead to an uncontrollable situation, e.g. for live concerts or live recordings

· in case of unbalanced cables longer than 1.5 m (5 ft)

· for phono players· for amplified musical instruments with pick-ups

Since the sound conductor is not shielded, it has to be taken in consideration, that there is a certain, but small risk of interfer-ence.

Balanced Sound Conductors

VOVOX®link protect SShielded, balanced sound conductor with optimal protection from noise. Offers the best sound quality in all situations, where absolutely no risk for interference can be taken.

VOVOX®mucolink direct S8Multicore sound conductor with eight same-direction balanced channels. In or-der to achieve a perfect result in every situation, VOVOX®mucolink is generally assembled according to the customer‘s requirements.

Multicore Sound Conductors

VOVOX®mucolink protect S8Shielded multicore sound conductor with eight same-direction balanced channels. Due to strict separation of the ground conductors from the shielding in contact with earth, sound quality achieves an extremely high level. VOVOX®mucolink is generally assembled according to the customer‘s requirements.

Arrangement Of Conductors: Current induces electromagnetic fields in any conductor. If the distance between two conductors is too small, interactions and interferences are created. The result is an audible loss of sound quality. As a consequence, the conductors are arranged at well-defined, large distances.

Separation Of Different Functions: A signal conductor has the function of transmitting sound signals, whereas the screen protects from noise or interference. The ground conductor, if used at the same time as the screen, can fulfill its function as reverse signal conductor only imperfectly. For this reason VOVOX® sound conductors have an additional ground conductor with a structure identical to the signal conductors’.

Ultra-Pure Materials: To reduce interaction to a minimum, only ultra-pure materials are used for the conductors, but also for the plastic coatings. Plasticizers, or other additives are completely omitted. Even the use of color pigments is avoided, as they could cause negative interactions.

Boundary Surfaces: Cables have many surfaces, or more precisely boundary surfaces, like the grain boundaries within copper, or the boundary between the conductor surface and the insulation. Each boundary is a source of imperfection. VOVOX® sound conductors are made of silver plated single solid core conductors. Using this construction, the total boundary surface is reduced by up to 90% compared to stranded wires.

Directionality: VOVOX® sound conductors are directional. The sound will be different depending on the direction in which they are used. If the sound conductors are used opposite to the indicated way, the sound becomes more granular and loses definition in the LF and HF range.In the case of balanced cables with XLR connectors, the sound conductors are automatically used with correct alignment. In all other cases please connect the end of the sound conductor marked with the VOVOX® label to the signal receiver.

Length Of Cables: Though we like to sell long cables, shorter conductors do offer better sound quality! Many properties of cables are directly linked to their length. As a result, the shorter the cable, the smaller the change in sound. In the case of instrument cables or speaker cables, the effect is especially pronounced. For this reason, microphone cables for stereo recordings or loudspeaker cables should be of the same length on the left and right channels.
