Avoid Reclassification!• In order to be a JUNIOR next year, you must

have earned 12 credits by the time school starts next year.

• If you have less than 12, you will be classified as a SOPHOMORE again!

• If you need to make up credits you can do that through summer school or an on-line class.

• Please see me if you have ANY questions about this!!!

• The classes listed in green are those that are typically taken by juniors.

AP Courses• If you are considering taking any AP courses next

year, you must print off the “AP Contract” found in the Course Guide on page 67.

• Because AP courses require a huge commitment on your part, you are required to read and sign the contract. You must have a parent sign the contract as well.

• Turn the signed contracts into Mrs. Gress in the Counseling office.

Social Studies Requirements

• You need 3.0 Social Studies credits to graduate. They must be in the following areas:– .5 World History (World History I meets this requirement)– .5 US History (US History 1865 to 1945 meets this requirement)– .5 credit of World Geography– .5 credit of US Government1

– .5 credit of Economics (US or International)2

– .5 credit of a Social Studies Elective (anything that doesn’t meet one of these listed criteria, for example: Sociology, Psychology, Colorado History, Contemporary World Issues, Modern European History, World History II, etc.)

1 If you are taking AP Government, half of the credit counts as your Government requirement. The other semester can either waive your Econ requirement if you’ve already take US Government OR it can count as your Social Studies elective.

2 If you take BOTH AP US History AND AP European History, this will waive your Economics requirement.

No Schedule Changes!

Page 21: Sophomore Registration What you need to know before you register for your JUNIOR classes! Class of 2012!!!

SO…please select your classesVERY CAREFULLY!!!

• Due to district and building budget constraints, our class sizes will be very full next year. We will not have the ability to accommodate schedule changes as we have done in the past. Therefore, it is imperative that you select classes that you know you can live with because if you change your mind, we won’t be able to move you to another class.

• The ONLY schedule changes we will be able to make next year will be corrections if you were placed in the wrong level of a course or are missing something you need to graduate.

Don’t Forget…

• When you register for your year long classes, you have to enter in the course numbers for both semesters.

• Make sure you select BOTH S1 and S2.

• For example: – English I:

• 50300S1 AND 50300S2

– Algebra II w/ Trig:• 60590S1 AND 60590S2
