The Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory, commonly referred to as the Waterman Farm, is located on the campus of The Ohio State University at the northwest corner of the intersection of Kenny Road and Lane Avenue.
The farm was originally owned by Joseph Waterman. On July 2, 1923, It was titled the property on to The Ohio State University. At that time, the property had five buildings on it including barns and a corn crib. Since then four smaller parcels have been added to the site bringing the total acreage to its current 261 acres.
Facilities and features of the Waterman Farm include a series of agricultural research labs. The field is divided into multiple planting plots for scientific experiments of these labs.

Waterway on Site
The site consists of simple layers. With major vehicular circulations bounding the site as boundaries, there are few walking path on site, and only 5 buildings. There is a creek running across the north part. The rest of the site is cover by an extraordinary variety of plants, since the main purpose of Waterman Farm is to serve experimental agricultural research. South half of the site has a larger coverage of planting and more types of vagetation.

At the time there were fewer built structures on site. Large area East and South of the site was plain fields.
Headquarter office was built on the Northwest corner of the site. East of the site large area of parking lots had been developed. Fred Beekman Park was constructed right across W Lane Avenue.
The site remained fairly the same while the neighborhood area proceeded to develop gradually.
The variation of the plants on site has increased

Site Map10

The site bears a extraordinarily tall plant species (about 12-14 feet in height) that was introduced to be an foreign import.
On the south part of the site rest quite a few of these cylinder-shaped round hay bales collected and rolled by the farmers during summer season.
Site Details
12
Rows of metal frameworks like these are implemented on site over the test plots, possibly for protection purposes later on.
Some areas are pre-plowed into stripes of berm for later sowing.
13
Red or bue flags are used on site for marking the land regarding different species planted at the spots.
Two species of low shrubs are planted in alternative rows, for the purposes of control/comparison.
