BUY RIGHT SAMUEL ISAAC CHUA/THE EDGE SINGAPORE Chanel is not just known the world over for its fashion but also for its jewellery, in particular the 1932 collection that will go on display at a special exhibition The ever-romantic Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel first presented her exquisite jewellery collection in 1932 and called it The Constellation. She used plenty of stars, especially the shooting star, as she felt it represented hope for all during the time of the Great Depression. Chanel’s necklaces were made without clasps, and had stones fashioned into stars that dash across the night sky, leaving a sparkling trail behind. Brooches, pendants, bracelets and rings are set on fire with carefully placed diamonds. Can’t picture it? Not to worry, as a one-of-a-kind exhibition titled Bijoux de Diamants will feature these striking pieces.
