    SONIC INTEGRITY LOGGER UMQA4

SAVE TIME, MANPOWER AND MONEY USING THE

    UMQA4s OUTSTANDING FEATURES.

The new SONIC INTEGRITY LOGGER UMQA4 Employs state-of-the-art digital signal capture and processing

Realtime observation and playback of logged data on LCD display

One operator can set up the equipment and log within minutes

Solid state digital data storage for further processing and archiving

All hardware and software encased in one rugged, lightweight unit

Immediate site report and record with the built-in printer

Generates professional report on popular laser printers

Update plan assures equipment remains state of the art

CONDUCT PROFESSIONAL TESTING WITH TOTAL CONFIDENCESonic Logging is used to economically detect defects in concrete structures and in other solid structures such as

rock or concrete-rock interfaces. Defects detected using sonic logging include; honeycombing; segregation due to

improper concrete placement methods; washout of cement due to groundwater flow; cracks in the pile shaft due to

shrinkage; inclusion of foreign material causing contamination of concrete; necking and arching of the pile due to

collapse of side walls during withdrawal of temporary liners.

    Typical plots generated by the

    internal printer or external

    laser printer.

NOW ITS A SIMPLE, ONE MAN OPERATION TO TEST THE

INTEGRITY OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES.The SONIC INTEGRITY LOGGER UMQA4 enables advanced integrity

testing of deep foundations; bored piles, diaphragm walls, barrettes, drivenpre stressed concrete piles, cast-in-situ piles.

    Fig. 1 shows the SONIC

    INTEGRITY LOGGER in

    a typical site setup.

    SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

The SONIC INTEGRITY LOGGER UMQA4 incorporates a wide array offeatures in such a compact unit-an ultrasonic pulse generator, ultrasonic pulse

reception conditioner, ultrasonic digitizer, digital storage, depth sensor interface,

storage display, keyboard, printer, solid state storage and AC/DC power supplies

all housed in a sturdy resin case. Operation of the UMQA4 is menu driven and

very user friendly. Data can be offloaded for further processing off-site. A meter

wheel with depth encoder and application specific probes complete the system.

OPERATIONPulses generated by ultrasonic pulse generator are converted to ultrasonic

waves by transmitter probe and are received by receiver probe. After conditioning,

signals are digitized and stored. The meterwheel, acting as depth sensor providesthe vertical (Y) axis for the storage display and the signal is displayed on the

horizontal (X) axis of the storage display. Variations in delay and signal strength

    indicate the presence of faults.
