Sonic Peacemakers Orchestrates An Historic Occurrence in Swat Valley

Atif Aslam, Lanny Cordola & Todd Shea singing with the Children of Swat after bringing medical services and relief goods to the flood ravaged area with SHINE Humanity

In September 2010, Cordola found himself in Pakistan with Aslam and Shea, whose organization SHINE Humanity provides desperately needed humanitarian assistance in Pakistan since the 2005 earthquake. They staged the first live performance of music in the once Taliban-dominated, flood-ravaged Swat Valley in over five years when they performed and filmed a video for Todd Shea’s song “We Will Rise Again” with the children of Swat.

SONICPEACEMAKERS

Founded by Lanny Cordola and Todd Shea, Sonic Peacemakers is a multi-faceted, multimedia collaboration between musicians from Pakistan and America of all styles and backgrounds

Imagine if you will, this collaboration taking on new dimensions with World Class Musicians such as members of Guns N’ Roses from Los Angeles in musical communion with Superstar Singer Atif Aslam from Lahore

Sonic Peacemakers is inspired by world music pioneer Manu Dibango's declaration that musicians are “all from the same tribe,” regardless of their race, nationality or religion, and Albert Ayler’s proclamation that “music is the healing force of the universe”

In 2011, The Sonic Peacemakers have continued their noble mission, traveling across Pakistan, performing, jamming, collaborating, learning, teaching and bearing witness to the struggles of those in the grips of poverty and war — using the resonance of music to empower people and to unite the rebels of light in those pockets of darkness that so desperately need hope and harmony while shining brightly on those who are currently engaged in profound works of humanitarianism, such as Edhi, who is known as Pakistan’s Mother Teresa

We need your support to show the world the 80 million innocent kids of Pakistan who were just toddlers, infants or unborn on 9/11. To learn more, visit www.sonicpeacemakers.org
