Com ments: The Songo Pond Quarry is well known for pro -duc ing aqua ma rine beryl crys tals of very fine deep-blue color.

Also known as Kimballs Ledge, this quarry has been worked bysev eral peo ple over the years. On go ing ex ca va tions have ex -posed fresh ma te rial and give vis i tors a chance to see how gemsand crys tal spec i mens are mined.

Di rec tions: Driv ing: From jct. of U. S. Rte. 2 and Rte. 5 (westof Bethel vil lage), drive south on Rte. 5 for about 4.6 miles. Justpast Songo Pond, turn left onto South Songo Road and drive 0.20 mile to park ing area on right. (High-clear ance 4-wheel drive ve -hi cles may con tinue driv ing up the steep hill).

Walk ing: Walk up hill to east for about 1,000 feet to the quarrysite.
