ReverseOsmosisSystemReverse Osmosis (RO) is a time provenmethod of desalination whilst excellent for bothmarineandlandbasedapplications.Osmosis is a naturally occurring process and is defined when two solutions of differentconcentrationsareseparatedbyasemi-permeablemembrane;thenthelessconcentrated(purer)waterwillflowtowardsthesaltier(moreconcentrated)sideofthemembrane.Thiswillhappenuntilthepressuresandconcentrationsareequalised.Séon TRO Seawolf reverses this process by pressurising salt water at double the naturalosmosispressureagainstthemembranesurface,resultinginpotablewaterbeingproduced.Theprincipalofoperationissuchthatthefeedwaterhasfirstpassedthroughasandfiltersystemanda5-MicronabsolutecartridgefiltersystemtomaximisetheROsystemefficiencyandoperationallife.The filtered feedwater thenpasses through thehighpressurepumpwhich increases thepressureto800/900PSI(55-62BAR)priortoenteringthe4membranepressurevessels.Eachmembraneisheldinthecentreofastainlesssteelre-enforcedGRPhighpressurecasing.Thepressurisedfeedwaterisfedthroughthemembranesanddischargedthroughapressureregulatingvalvetoseawaterdischarge.The product water which permeates through themembranes is piped through a salinitysensortoasolenoidvalvewhichdivertsthefreshwatereithertostoreortodumpdependingonthequality.Thisoperationiscontrolledbyatemperaturecompensatedcontrollersettorejectwater that isnotwellwithin theWHOdirectiveofamaximum500ppmsalinity forpotablewater.Theprocessedproductwaterissuitableforpotablestoragedirectlyfromthesystem;itshouldbenotedthatchlorinedosingisrecommendedtoprotectagainstcrosscontaminationanddramatically increase storage life. Additional chlorine dosing equipment is available uponrequest.

Re-MineralisationProductwaterpassesthrougha10”re-mineralisationcartridgecanpostROmembranes.Theprincipal is to restore mineral content and alkalinity/C02 equilibrium of the water.Replacementissimpleandoccursafteraspecifiedquantityofwaterhasbeenproduced.
