With the magnet inside, the paperclip

holder can take paperclips on its top

surface. Resting on its heavy bottom,

this egg-shaped pencil sharpener

can rock around like a roly-poly toy,

creating a harmonious atmosphere in

the workspace.

when it's body is rotated. This can create

Stapler

The design of this stapler resembles an

image of a tree. When held, it feels very solid

and stable, which brings a sense of quality

and durability to the stapler.

It's designed to be placed upright on the

table to create an interesting scenery with

other items as well as minimize space on

the work table. It uses standard mini office

staples for great compatibility. A very

essential and appealing item for any office.

The form of this item is a reference to

cloud images. When given a closer look,

it also resembles a humorous face. The

scissors can be securely placed upright

on the base when not in use.

When held, it is possible to feel the

strength and quality of these scissors.

The base is a weighted zinc alloy while

the blades are Teflon coated and non-

stick to provide smooth and predictable

cutting.

The ELEMENTS collection is composed of simple shaped objects, each with a different function. Various facial expressions can be achieved by different arrangements, similar to a mime show on the table of daily life.

Underneath, there is a single padded slot

for a thin wire to run. It has a concave top

surface which can be used to accommodate

a clever phone stand. When held in the hand,

the quality and weight are very noticeable. It

also has a sleek black design which makes it

very appealing.

A corner of the phone can be inserted into the

or vertically in this position. This allows the

phone to stand safely on the table at any time

for comfortable viewing.

The design for our pencil sharpener was

inspired by Japanese capsule toys aka

gashapon. The top is an integrally-formed

aluminum sharpener while its lower half is

a weighted zinc alloy. Resting on its heavy

bottom, this egg-shaped pencil sharpener can

rock around like a roly-poly toy.

When held, it feels l ike one solid piece

although it can be emptied by its separation

line in the middle. This unique and interesting

item will create a harmonious atmosphere

in the workspace. It also represents the

everyday balances of life and work.

This product was conceived as a tea light

candle holder which conceals the tea light

itself. The references ubiquitous paper

lanterns while adding wind resistance. The

candle holder is composed of a hand-blown

glass lid, a cast zinc stand, and a plastic

candle holder with grooved vents designed

to allow smooth airflow. To use the lantern,

fit the candle in the plastic holder and fit it

into the zinc base. Finally put the glass cover

on top to protect the flame from the wind.

Place the candle holder wherever you like —

in the living room, on the dining table, on the

balcony, or in the garden — and the gently

flickering candlelight will create a serene

atmosphere.

AstroCandle Stick Holder

The many curves of our candle holder are

polished by hand, thereby highlighting

a form that is simple yet has no traces

of redundancy. It is an intriguing object

when displayed by itself and, when placed

together, their appearance becomes even

more interesting. A long, slender candle is

suitable for this candlestick holder. As the

candle burns, the hot wax drips down, leaving

a trace of its past lives behind.

This product displays utilises Zinc with a

rough matte finish reminiscent of cast iron.

Its saucer inspired shape is easy to handle

and forms a trough for collecting any melted

wax. There are two versions, one suitable

on display, the candle holder adds something

quietly special to any scene.

This circular bottle opener is not limited directionality and can open up a bottle from any angle.

We used a special matte finish to give this unique bottle opener its unique stone-like texture.

When not serving its purpose as a tool, it can also be used as a paperweight and serve as an

interesting conversation piece. Although a bottle opener is an ordinary daily tool, we believe this

particular item will raise a smile.

This simple geometry pays homage to classic

design typologies. The upper bowl is made of

stainless steel, while the rough, cast-iron-like

body demonstrates a different quality of zinc

alloy. With the slightest touch the bowl can

rotate, depositing the ash into the container

below. The ash concealed by the lid as it

resumes its original position. Using these

simple principles of gravity and balance, a

light touch cleans the tray and everything

returns quietly as it was.

A range of geometric containers built around

a 6 0 m m c i r c u l a r f o o t p r i n t . T h e e d g e s o f

the bottom container and lid are cast with

chamfered edges creating the simplest of

engagements between the two parts. The

interior and exterior of the container has a soft,

smooth shape, which contrasts with the cold

hard metal. We achieve this using an intensive,

hands-on process. We plate and hand-polish

the exterior twice, while hand-finishing the

inner surface four times at a low temperature

with stove enamel paint. Seemingly ordinary,

we create this container using an extraordinary

process. Not only for storing objects, Geode can

also hold life’s memories.

SuperbowlBowl

The name of the Superbowl is derived from

its shape, a particular geometric shape

called a super ellipse. The bamboo base caps

a substantial zinc body, its metal surface

plated and polished twice by hand in order

to achieve a reflective mirror-like dish. The

smooth contours of the inside of the object

make it easy to pick up objects from the tray.

Simultaneously rectangular and circular, this

product has a self-manifesting presence and,

from it, one can give or take at will.

TetraFruit Platter

The design of our fruit platter was inspired

the way by piled up fruits at fruit-selling

stalls. We used white stove enamel finish

which is vaguely reminiscent of ceramic for

the body and laminated bamboo for the base

which gives the zinc a warmer expression.

T h e d i s h e d a r e a s i n t h e t o p s u r f a c e

accommodate stacked fruits, various snacks

and dry goods, displaying everything in an

abundant fashion.

Office for Product Design is a design studio formed in 2007 by Nicol Boyd and Tomas Rosén, who originally began their collaboration while studying at the Royal College of Art in London. With a focus on exploring and developing c a r e f u l l y c o n s i d e r e d p r o d u c t s a n d t h e i r associated experiences, the office works in close collaboration with a diverse client list across a wide range of sectors, spanning home ware, consumer electronics, furniture, lighting and interiors.

AC/AL creates objects with the aim to reach a perfect balance between function, form and techniques of production, depending of the companies' context and know-how. Passionate for materials, crafts and industrial manufacturing processes, they draw products and furniture that valorize usefulness and the rigor of simplicity. Their precise, elegant and clean lines give their design its identity.

Yun Li

Yun Li is a Paris-based Taiwanese industrial d e s i g n e r . H e g r a d u a t e d f r o m t h e É c o l e Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (Ensci-Les Ateliers) with honor in 2014. For his final project, supervised by Jasper Morrison, he attempted to refine, both visually and technically, one of the world's most visible and mass-produced chairs. In 2012, he followed an internship at BIG-GAME in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 2013, he exhibited at SaloneSatellite. From 2014 to 2017, he worked for Studio Pauline Deltour in Paris, France. Since 2017, he joins design studio Unknown-Untitled in Paris, France.
