I have set small challenges throughout the day to keep you on task
and put suggested times when you could complete them. If you need
to change the order of some of the things you do or come up with your
own schedule, go for it! It is best to structure the day in a way that
works for you and your family. Try to get as much completed as
possible, but don’t worry if you do not get through all of it every day.
I look forward to receiving the work you have completed via email.
Something new for this week…
Normally we would have weekly spellings and timetables/number facts to learn.
These are the spellings that I would like you to learn for this week. You can decide
whether you want to learn 6, 8, 10 or 12 of the following words. It is down to you.
What do you think is a challenge for you? Some people will be challenged by
learning 6 of these words; others will be challenged by learning more. They are in
order so if you choose to learn 8, learn the first 8.
Words with endings which sound like /shuhl/
1. official
2. special
3. artificial
4. social
5. racial
6. facial
7. crucial
8. beneficial
9. superficial
10. antisocial
11. commercial
12. judicial
There are some worksheets underneath to help you learn some of these words.
Times Tables – 2 options
Option 1
Learn the times table that you find the trickiest. It could be your 7 times table? Try to
improve your speed in just knowing the answers. There are many ways you could do
this:
Find the supermovers song on the BBC website,
Write them down as fast as you can,
Make up your own song to help you,
Create 1-12 number cards, shuffle them and as you turn them over multiply the
number on the card by the times table you are trying to learn.
Get your parent to test you at the start of the week and then again at the end of the
week to see if you have improved your score.
Option 2
You know all of your times tables really quickly already so you need an extra
challenge. That is on the next page.
Two things to help you learn the spellings

Good Morning Sycamore!
I hope you are well and had a lovely weekend. I hope you enjoy doing the work I
have set you. I have set small challenges throughout the day to keep you on task
and put suggested times when you could complete them. If you need to change the
order of some of the things you do or come up with your own schedule, go for it!
However, it would be great if you get this work done at some point during the course
of today!

Maths Today is the next step in learning about ratio. We did not do this in school, but the video does introduce this really well. Don’t forget you can email me if you get stuck. Today you are going to complete Week 1 Lesson 4 – Calculating ratio
Watch the video first – don’t forget to do flashback 4, which is included in the video. There is then an activity sheet to do in your yellow books (they’ve even provided you with the answers, but no sneaky looking first). All of this is on the link below: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/ Please make sure you select the correct work as there is more on there that we
haven’t got to yet; we will catch up and get to this 😊

Reading – Holes Read Chapter 41-42 of the book you were given before we broke up. Question(s) to consider: In literature, characters can change and grow. In chapter 42, Stanley thinks about how he has changed since the day he was arrested. What are three ways that Stanley has changed? (If you're having trouble, think of some things he can do now that he couldn't do before he came to Camp Green Lake.) Activity: What do you think the answer is to the last question in chapter 42? Why? Provide as much detail within the answer as possible. If you didn’t take a book – look at the Extras section on the next page.

Art After last week’s impressive dogs, I have kept the same theme but a different animal. Lots of you said you enjoyed this challenge so have fun with this one! Today I have set the challenge of learning how to draw an elephant. Follow this link and a video will give you a guide on how to do this. After you’ve gone through this once you may be able to draw a second one but be a little more creative and add your own inspiration into the creation. Alternatively, add some detail to the one that you have drawn. The video can be found here: https://www.twinkl.co.uk/go/resource/tg-a-94-how-to-draw-an-elephant-animation

English You have got the rest of the week to complete this activity, so today, Thursday and Friday. You do not need to send me any of this work until you have the completed version on Friday. However, if you have any questions please email me. Plan and write an adventure story about Kissin’ Kate Barlow. Kissin’ Kate spent twenty years as an outlaw – running and stealing from people.
