  • Dear Friends and Colleagues,It is a great pleasure to welcome you again to Barcelona for the European Meeting onLaparoscopic and Robotic Urologic Surgery.

“Challenges in Laparoscopy and Robotics” has reached the 16th edition and theconcept that initiated this adventure is quite alive and shows great potential for the future ofUrology. The comprehensive scientific program will include live laparoscopic and robotic surgeriesperformed by the world’s most prominent urologic surgeons. In the past meetings, we havewitnessed many challenging procedures. It is now time to expand our indications and to lookforward to new challenges like the Single port trans-perineal prostatectomy, the robotic kidneytransplantation in the obese recipient, the buccal mucosal repair for ureteral strictures, the CavaThrombus in RCC, the IMAGE1 S and the retroperitoneal LND and Partial Nephrectomy.

We are enthusiastically anticipating an extremely stimulating meeting. Live surgery, discussionsand thought-provoking debates will take place with the participation of the best urologists in theInternational arena. There will be two monitors transmitting live different surgeries at thesame time. As an innovation this year we have introduced one screen dedicated to a series of25 rare and difficult surgeries presented by the actual surgeons. The series is entitled "One hourwith . .". Each delegate will be provided with headphones with the possibility to select thepreferred moderation.

All questions will be transmitted to the moderators via Twitter or directly via moderators. Weare very proud to host this 16th International Meeting again in Barcelona, the perfect city for oldantiquities and innovative techniques to convene. All the surgeries will be transmitted live fromFundació Puigvert, one of Europe’s leading centers in Urology.

We hope that the challenging procedures that you will see will lead the way towards definingthe future of Urologic Surgery.

Clothing During the entire meeting, attire will be informal.

Climate The Mediterranean climate is in full swing in June, which means you can expect high temperatures, plenty of sunshine and clear blue skies for most of the month. Barcelona sits on an elevated plateau on Spain’s northeast coast. Its position leaves it open to cooling winds from the Atlantic, which can lower temperatures and make the weather much colder at night. Temperatures range from 16°C to daily highs of 24°C. Rain is very rare and Barcelona weather in June is mostly warm, dry and sunny.
