Dear Parents, This morning I received a letter of commendation from Brisbane Catholic Education’s Deputy Executive Director, Doug Ashleigh. The letter commended our school on it’s learning achievements for 2018. Our staff and students have worked very hard to achieve the fine results that it has. Tonight families will have an opportunity to learn more about our school’s priorities for 2019 and also about our individual class routines, work to date and future plans for learning this year. We hope to see you all tonight. School Times and Collection School begins each day at 8:35am. Drop off can be any time after 8:15am (morning supervision begins at this time). Pick up time is 2:50pm. Students are also encouraged to train at home for this event. Term 1 Swimming: Swimming lessons begin on Monday, 4th March and continue on the following Mondays and Fridays as listed below. Monday lessons will commence at 12pm and Friday lessons will begin at 11:45am. Year 1/2 will go first, then Year 3/4 followed by Year 5/6. All lessons will run for 40 minutes. Wherever possible, please refrain from sending any nut products (peanut butter or foods containing peanuts or tree nuts), in your child’s lunch.

Newsletters School newsletters will be emailed to parents, usually on Monday of each week. We will also send a hard copy of the weekly newsletter home on a Monday with the eldest child in each family. We are always happy and pleased to include the personal achievement of students (past and present) in the newsletter. We rely on parents to inform us of these details and request that it be put in writing to ensure accuracy. We need articles/information for inclusion in the newsletter by the previous Thursday afternoon. Arts The Year 1/2’s have been having some messy fun in the Art room as they learn about Primary and Secondary colours.

Show The Love for Townsville Day The people of Townsville continue to face many challenges as a result of the extreme weather they have been subjected to. As a Diocese, we would like to show our support to the residents of Townsville. This Thursday the 14th February, all schools across the Diocese of Brisbane including our school will participate in a “Show The Love for Townsville Day”. For a gold coin donation children will be able to wear free dress that includes at least one item of red clothing. Thank you in anticipation of your support of this event.

Welcome BBQ & Parent Information Evening. On Monday, 11th February, parents and carers are invited to a Welcome BBQ, followed by a Parent Information Evening. The BBQ is a social opportunity to meet and welcome new families. The purpose of the information evening is for all parents to meet their child’s teacher, see the classroom and hear about some of the expectations each teacher has for their students. One of the greatest influences in your child’s learning progress is you, the parent. The more interest you show in what is happening at school, the more influence you have on your child’s learning. A complimentary sausage sizzle will commence at 5:00pm. All parents will be invited to hear from the Extended Leadership Team at 5:30pm in the hall. Parents and carers are then invited to attend the classroom information session. Each class teacher will run two sessions: Session 1 is from 6:00pm; Session 2 is from 6:30pm. Each session is the same. This gives parents and carers who have children in more than one class the opportunity to visit each class. Uniform Days Sports uniforms are worn on Monday and Friday of each week and formal uniforms are worn on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tennis Mr Banner is unable to take tennis lessons this term. He is hoping to be coaching again next term. Lost Property A silver watch has been found in the Prep classroom, if anyone has lost one please see the front office staff.

Tuckshop Tuckshop helpers are required for this year. Full tuckshop is held once a fortnight on a Wednesday. It is run on a voluntary basis and all profits go towards enhancing school resources for students. We need your support to be able to continue offering this service to the students during 2019. If you can spare some time for Tuckshop, your help will be greatly appreciated. Tuckshop opens by 8:30am and is finished by 12:00pm. The busiest time is from 9:00am to 10:00am. Even if you can help for a short time it would be very beneficial. Please call in to the office or phone the school on 07 4126 1866 and leave your name and contact number if you can assist.
