P- and T-number – what is it?

• Your student-id (administrative number at the university)

• Not useful outside the university

• P (Permanent) = for students staying less than a year

• T (Temporary) = for students staying a year or more

(need to apply for a national personal identity number)

Where can I get my number?

…in the Infocenter at Studenthuset

…on the housing contract if you have received

housing through the Housing Office.

• EU/EEA and Nordic citizens do not need a residence permit; do not need

to register upon arrival.

Extending a residence permit

• Extension takes approx. 5 months

• Must apply approx. 1 month before the current permit expires

• Stay in Sweden while the extension is being processed!

If you travel abroad during the process, it is difficult to re-enter.

Insurance

Personal injury insurance

• Everyone studying at Stockholm University is covered

by a personal injury insurance

• Validity:

– When you are on campus in order to study, scheduled

lectures, etc.

– During travels to and from the location where school

hours are spent

Insurance for exchange students

Citizens outside a Nordic, EU/EEA country or Switzerland

• ”STUDENT IN” (Swedish State’s insurance)

• Includes for example:

– Medical care

– Dental care (emergency)

– Liability cover

• Valid 2 weeks before until 2 weeks after your stay

• Valid only in Sweden

• Home insurance is not included!

Insurance for exchange students

Citizens within a Nordic, EU/EEA country or Switzerland

Health:

• Must have the European Health Insurance

Card or similar from your home country.

• Same conditions and fees as permanent

residents.

• Must bring the card when you seek medical care.

Banking

• Stockholm University suggest that you contact a SEB

bank office. The closest are located at

- Odengatan 28 (Metro: Tekniska Högskolan)

- Odengatan 71 (Metro: Odenplan)

Opening hours: Monday-Friday 10.00-15.00
