Solving a system by GRAPHING:

1) Graph each equation on the same coordinate plane:

if either equation is NOT in slopeintercept form, change it!

use a straight edge to draw your lines

 label your lines!

2) Find and label the point of intersection with the coordinates (x, y).

3) You're done

Solving a system by SUBSTITUTION:

1) Choose and solve one equationfor a single variable (often either x or y).

if one equation already has a variable by itself on one side, move on to step 2!

2) Substitute into the second equation in place of the variable you solved for

now you should have a NEW equation with only one variable (though it could show up in more than one place in the equation  but you won't have x AND y)

3) Solve the new equation for your variable.

4) Use the first answer to solve for the second variable.

5) Write your answer as an ordered pair.

Delta Math:

Work on the sections assigned to you, starting with the first highlighted section.

When you have gotten 4 in a row right within a section, check it off on your paper and go to the next section.

All work should be neatly completed in the OTL section of your spiral.
