Christians are baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: not in their names, for there is only one God, the almighty Father, his only Son and the Holy Spirit: the Most Holy Trinity.
The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in himself. It is therefore the source of all the other mysteries of faith, the light that enlightens them. It is the most fundamental and essential teaching in the "hierar-chy of the truths of faith". The whole history of salvation is identical with the history of the way and the means by which the one true God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, reveals himself to men "and reconciles and unites with himself those who turn away from sin".

SOCIAL COMMITTEE
The Social Committee are hosting an International Potluck on
June 23rd after the 12 Noon Mass. This community gathering is
to thank and bid farewell to Father Massimo. Sign-up and bring a
dish to share with all. Please see a member of the Social

HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE
Join Fr. Joseph Singh and Cale Clarke on a pilgrimage to the Holy
Land from 22 November to 2 December 2019. For those who are
interested, they may pick up a pilgrimage information form from
the parish office.

PRAY FOR THE SICK
MARRIAGE & COMMUNION
Due to the many misconceptions regarding the Catholic Church and
marriage, please note that a Catholic may marry a non-Catholic in
the Catholic Church, without his or her conversion to the faith. In
some instances, a person, who has been previously married, can also
be married in the Catholic Church after consultation with the priest.
If as a Catholic you’re married outside of the Catholic Church
without the permission of the Church, we respectfully ask that you
refrain from receiving the Eucharist until your marriage has been validated (“sacramentalized”) by a Catholic priest or deacon. To
remedy this situation, please call one of the priests to make an
appointment to have your marriage validated. We are only too happy
to bring back to the couple, the graces necessary to live out their
marriage, and to reconcile them with the graces of the Eucharist.

REFLECTION
The Christian doctrine of God has developed out, but without
deviating, from Jewish monotheism. God is either finite or
infinite, and either personal or impersonal. Here are 5
logical options for the nature of God based on the
aforementioned.
1. God could be finite and impersonal. God would be like
an object like a stone or a chair. Problem: No one has ever
claimed to have such a god as this.
2. God could be finite and personal. The ancient Greeks
and the modern Mormons subscribe to this option. Problem:
You need a god big enough to explain something like the
universe and this option does not work for us Christians. It
makes the universe bigger than God. Hence the ancient
Greeks had multiple gods and the Mormons have various gods
for various planets.
3. God could be infinite and impersonal. This concept is
subscribed to by Pantheists, Buddhists, some Hindus, and
some New Agers. Problem: With this concept of God, we run
into the problem of the origin and purpose of personality.
Everyone recognizes that a person is something greater than a
non-person. If the origin of person lies in the non-personal,
we are left to question how persons come into being from that
which is less than personal. Buddhists solve this problem by
making personal existence a mere illusion. Some philosophers
try to solve this problem by reductionism – attempting to
reduce what is personal to the non-personal through a
biological mechanism. In other words, if mechanical or
biological systems become complex enough, “personality”
emerges from them. These theories give rise to a lot of
research into “artificial intelligence.”
4. God could be infinite and personal simple unity. Islam
and Jehovah Witnesses (JW) both make this claim about the
nature of God. One of the problems with this view of God is
that God cannot reveal who He is apart from creation. For
example, He cannot be “love” because He could not love
without creation. JWs say that “God is Love” is in the Bible.
But their concept is of a god who is dependent upon creation
to have somebody to love. At the same time, creation does not
reveal a god who is simple unity, because we do not see just
one of anything in the universe.
5. God is infinite and personal unity-in-diversity. This God
is love. He creates out of complete free and gracious
generosity because He is complete in Himself, not needing His
creation to be anything or to express anything. This is the
sublime orthodox Christian understanding of God. This God
is revealed in creation, through His dealings with human
beings in history, and through the Incarnation.
God prepared the human family for this revelation of Himself.
The pinnacle of the revelation was the Jewish faith. The
Christian doctrine of God says that He is one personal God
whose unique nature is self-existent, eternal, infinite,
omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient and immutable. This
God of ours is Creator: Lifegiver, Sustainer; King; Lawgiver;
Judge; Redeemer; Sanctifier. The acts of God in Creation and
Redemption are the work of the Holy Trinity.
