Our operation consists of 28 temperature-regulated rooms that run 24 hours a day. Managing the energy requirements of a facility of this scale had become increasingly time-intensive, requiring specialised knowledge. We realised that handing this managerial responsibility over to outsourced specialists would therefore be in the best interest of the business, as it would allow us to focus solely on the company’s core activities. We outsourced our Refrigeration, Solar Power and Steam to Energy Partners. This decision paid off almost immediately, with our business achieving a 30% reduction in energy costs.

The system designed and installed by EP Solar has made Bakenshoek completely self reliant. The farm is powered with green energy, reducing the carbon footprint of our wine. The system was installed without any problems and is running with minimal maintenance. It is a pleasure to have a system that is paying for itself when it is also the right thing to do for the environment.

The Kalahari Mall Solar project could not have presented bigger technical challenges. After reaching a seemingly dead end the EP Solar team proposed a solar car port as an alternative structure. Apart from providing invaluable shade, the EP Solar team made the additional effort to work with structural engineers to lift the entire sub-structure in order to accommodate the high concentration of SUV’s and bakkies of our customers. We are exceedingly proud to literally be the owners of the world’s first 4x4 friendly solar carport, providing shade for our customers and generating an attractive financial return on our investment.
