2005–2006 Social Hubble Project: Gender Political Inequality in Brazil,
South Africa, and Russia
International Coordinator of this international comparative
project, which was conducted through the Belo Horizonte Area
Survey 2005, the Cape Area Study 2005; and the Petrozavodsk
Area Study 2006/2007.

International Coordinator of this international comparative
Project, which was conducted through the Belo Horizonte Area
Survey 2005 and the Cape Area Study 2005.
2003 Watermark River Basin Committees Survey (Projeto “Marca d’ Água”)
Survey coordinator to this national survey of members of the
river basin committees in Brazil. This project was conducted
by a broad interdisciplinary consortium of American and
Brazilian professors and researchers, and was funded by the
Brazilian National Science Foundation, and the Hewlet
Foundation, among others.
2002 Time use and the domestic sexual division of labor and power
Consultant for the parallel survey of gender relations in
this time use study coordinated by PI Neuma Aguiar.
1995- 2003 GOES - Global Environmental Survey
Member of the International Executive Committee
GOES is an international comparative project on mass public
and decision makers’ attitudes and behavior concerning

global environmental problems. The first wave of the GOES
project was conducted in Brazil, China, Japan, China, the
Netherlands, Germany, and Canada.
2002 GOES - Global Environmental Survey, Belo Horizonte; Detroit Area
Study 2002; and Beijing Area Study 2002
Principal Investigator for the GOES Belo Horizonte, and
collaborator in the Detroit Area Study 2002 and Beijing Area
Study 2002 (on environmental attitudes, behavior and support
for public policy.
2001 Environmental Survey: What Brazilians Think about the
Environment, Development and Sustainability
Consultant to this longitudinal national survey on attitudes
and behavior concerning environmental issues. This survey
was sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment and has
been conducted by the Institute ISER from Rio de Janeiro.
1999 Industry and the Environment
Coordinator of this survey of industrialists, government
officials, and experts. This survey was conducted in
collaboration with the Federation of Industries of Minas
Gerais (FIEMG) and the National Council of Industries (CNI).
1998 Environmental Perception in Das Velhas River Basin: Survey on
attitudes, values, knowledge and behavior towards the environment
Coordinator of this survey sponsored by the Environmental
Secretary for the State of Minas Gerais (FEAM). The survey
was an environmental policy making and education component
of a major sanitation project. A book on the findings was
distributed by FEAM to policy makers and teachers involved
in the broader project.
