Software Update - (Option 5) Clean Installation - NGC

IntroductionThis procedure tells you how to perform a clean software install on machines that have the Next Generation Control.

Important: The Next Generation Control software file size is about 2.5 GB. The download time is slower for USB2.0 than for USB 3.0 memory devices. If possible, use a USB 3.0 memory device with a computer that has a USB 3.0port.

Caution: The clean software installation puts the machine back to the factory configuration. The machine loses alldata that is different than the factory installation.

Note: Do not upgrade to the current software from software version 100.16.000.1020 or lower. You need toupgrade to 100.16.000.1021 first then you can upgrade to the current software version. For any issues during theinstallation refer to MAINCON / SOFTWARE - NGC - TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE.

Note: For a updating the software on a simulator use NEXT GENERATION CONTROL - SIMULATOR -MULTIBOOT procedure.

2Know this important information about backup files:

• The next step puts the copies of the machine data files in the open directory on the USB memory device.• The backup makes a .zip file. You can open this .zip file on the control or on a PC.• The name of the .zip file that contains the backup data has this structure: "HaasBackup", then the date. For

example, HaasBackup(xx-xx-xxxx).zip.• You cannot make a backup file if the control is in MEMORY or USER DATA modes.

4Download and print NEXT GENERATION CONTROL - SOFTWARE UPDATE CHECKLIST to manually record the machineconfiguration values. After the software is updated and machine data is restored you can check that machineconfiguration settings are set correctly.

Know this information about the stored data:

• System Data makes copies of these data files:

1 Note: If you installed a new processor skip thissection and go into Next Generation Control -Clean Software Installation.
