ALAIN DARRÉ
Author and photographer Alain Darré was born in the South West Region of France.
He is still living in France, continuing to produce his works in the Brittany Region of the country. Alain was fascinated by his
father’s old abandoned Rolleiflex camera that he found in the attic during his childhood. With this camera his ambition towards
the art of photography started and he developed new techniques over time. Faint rays of red and yellow light leaking into the
darkroom, the acidic smell of production progress that brings out a fragment of reality are parts that attracts him from his daily
life. Together with his artistic works, Alain is giving lectures for more than twenty years on Political Anthropology, a discipline
in which he questions academic dimensions on his search of the surrounding world’s aesthetic vision. His photography works
explores multiple paths and techniques. His works vary between certain classicism revealing primitive graphic balances to
picturesque shade of colors coming unexpectedly from framed action. Beyond photographic techniques, it is « the nature of
things » which can always be seen, the song of the universe leaving shadows behind, the shadows to the answer of what is real
or illusion.
TRANSFIGURATION
A photographic picture is, in a way, a recorded “reality”. The imaging, which comes from it, reveals a fabricated ‘‘reality’’.
This work wants to find its place at the intersection of these two different approaches. Through different processes such as
solarisation, saturation, inversion, it aims at surpassing the visible world.
Far from moving us away from reality, the chromatic jubilation and the technical devices bring us back to a real dimension with
an increased acuity, and pave the way to the realm of imagination.
This graphic form of emotions lead to a descent into a reality where colour springs up with an exciting power.
From “Abiogenesis” to “Dead Make Up”, from birth to death, Matter and Mankind intertwine in the fantasized course of our
illusions and hopes, in other words in TRANSFIGURATION.
