JokeR s PlaN Social Experiment for San Francisco Eric Lee Jae Eun Jung Introduction After he escaped the Gotham Prison, Joker has moved to West Coast and is now planning another social experi- ment here is San Francisco. He is proposing an unforget- table social experiment for the people in San Francisco. He is offering a free firework show, which will involve sev- eral tourist attractions and public/government angen- cies. Purpose This time, Joker is planning his socia experiment to be done in one night. Moving in his beloved sLAUGHTER truckHe wants to shoot bazooka at selected landmarks and core public/government agencies of San Francisco in the presence of the citizens of San Francisco. Hence, he requested (threatened) us to create an ideal route map for his social experiment. Since he will be moving in a truck, narrow streets should be eliminated from the route. Although police department without Batman means nothing to him, police stations were avoided from the route for the sake of his social experiment. Method First, using geolcation we selected seven landmarks, that highly represent the city of San Francisco, and the four core public/gov- ernment agencies, which Joker insists on bombing (in order to bring chaos the city as never seen before) Then, we used suitability analysis to measure opportunities and constraints based on landmark attractions (and public/govern- ment agencies), population, size of the street (in ths specific study, freeways, highways, and speed limit under 20 mph were used), and the vicinity of police and fire stations. Finally, using network analysis we determined the ideal route for our client. 1. Geolocation We used geolocation to site the following landmarks, public/gov- ernment agencies of San Francisco. We addedweights of 5, 3, 1 ac- cording to the selected target’s impact to the people of San Fran- cisco when it is destroyed. Suitability Analysis Using suitability analysis we figured out which of these landmarks should be included in his social experiment, and if public/government agencies Joker orignally intendd on bombing can still be part of his plan. The opportunities map measures the weights of landmark attractions, public/governmet agencies, high population areas, and wide streets such as highways and freeways. The constraints map indicates areas to avoid, including police stations, fire stations, and narrow streets (for this case, we used speed limits under 20mph, assuming that these low speed limit indicates narros street) Conclusion The Joker will be riding on his slaughter truck through six critical landmarks and government agencies we have identified through a suitability analysis. He will be starting at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, destroying the Transamerica Pyramid, the Superior Court, City Hall, and the UCSF Medical Center on the way and finishing off his firework show at the Golden Gate Bridge. The appropriate route for this operation was established by avoiding the nearest police stations to the appointed landmarks and ignoring one-way streets or restricted turns for the fastest route. At the point the Joker reaches the Golden Gate Bridge, he will have successfully cut off all police cars chasing him by exploding the Bridge and escaping towards Sausalito. 3. Network Analysis Using the selected targets (any point above +5) deter- mined by the suitability analysis as our target as stops on Joker’s route. Also, suitability mapping helped us to de- termine areas to avoid. Using these data and network analysis, we then created the ideal route for our infamous client Joker. In ths study we selected any points above suitable weight of +5 as Joker’s final target. Hence, our targets were narrowed down to SF Federal Reserve Bank, Transamerica Pyramid, Superior Court, City Hall, UCSF Medical Center, and Golden Gate Bridge.
