Social Background
In 2013, China has a population of nearly 1.4 billion feed on 8%
of world’s arable land, which leads to the world’s largest
consumer market for Food & Beverage. Thanks to its rapid
growth in recent years, China’s urban household average annual
income per capita rose from US$ 320 in 1990 to US$ 4,300 in
2012, allowing Chinese consumers to spend more money on
higher-valued food products. Compounded with the emergence
of E-commerce and Shanghai Free Trade Zone, it is cleared that
China has an increasing appetite for imported F&B. According to
the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics, the value of imported
F&B is approximately US$98 billion by 2012, and is still growing
at a rate around 15% per year.
Significance of the Event
Following entry into the World Trade Organization, China has reduced its overall
average tariff and build Shanghai Free Traded Zone recently to boost import
business. The potential Chinese market is attracting investors to vie for entering
it. However, the process to enter the market can be a complicated and
challenging process needing cost, documentation, time and especially a good
Chinese partner.

Every sponsor company will get a table to display their own
products. On the meeting, sponsors will be seated at one side
of the table with the interpreter, while Chinese buyers one the
other side. Holding in a close-door environment of a five-star
hotel, sponsors and buyers can negotiate freely with zero
distraction from outsiders. With no time limits set on every
meeting, deep conservation is encouraged in the event. After
one meeting is closed, the staff will lead other buyers to the
table in a row.
