Open and collaborative Governance Key for democracy and development

• The quality of governance has a bearing on development outcomes.

• Citizen participation can engender more relevant, responsive and effective government policies, budgets and public services

•Social Accountability is an approach to governance that involves citizens and civil society organizations in making public affairs and the management of public resources more open, accountable and effective.

• The WB helps governments to build capacity of governments to improve their accountability and performance, and increasingly promotes government-civil society collaboration through social accountability
