So You Say The original youtube version Music by Martin Fabricius Transribed by Antonio Martín Aranda Edited by Martin Fabricius In 2006 I decided to start playing the vibraphone again after a long break. At my second rehearsal session I put up a camera and a small hard disc recorder and began playing a song I had written a few years earlier. I had just heard about youtube and thought it would be fun to put a recording out there and share the song with a few of my friends, even though, I must admit, my playing was still a bit rusty . As I'm writing this, three years later, the video has b een viewed 63.546 times and I've received a lot of encouraging comments and emails from all over the world, many asking me for the sheet music. I've been sending out the lead sheet to those who asked, but thanks to Antonio Martín Aranda and his gift of perfect pitch I can now offer you the full transcription. I would like to thank you for buying this music and if you are one the guys who have been supporting me on youtube, you should know, that your encouragement is one of the reasons I've decided never to let my vibraphone chops get rusty again. Please stay in touch through Mar tinFabricius.eu, Y outube.com/martinfabricius, MySpace.com/martinfabricius or whatever platforms the future will provide. I hope you have great fun with this music. All the best Martin A note about dampening and phrasing: The pedal is mostly dampening 1 bar at the time. Note how the pedal is up on the first note of each phrase. If you press down the pedal really quickly this note will still ring but the previous notes will be silenced making the phrasing very smooth. The X marks that an individual note should be dampened with a mallet. Using your ears is the best way to determine when and what to dampen. I can strongly recommend David Frie dman's book Vibraphone T echnique: Dampening and Pedaling, if you want to improve your dampening technique and thereby your ability to phrase musically on the vibraphone. Also, special care should be taken to bring out the melody by playing it at a slightly louder dynamic than the accompaniment. Most importantly - have fun with it and make sure to make it your own.

Edited by Martin Fabricius

In 2006 I decided to start playing the vibraphone again after a long break. At my second rehearsalsession I put up a camera and a small hard disc recorder and began playing a song I had written afew years earlier. I had just heard about youtube and thought it would be fun to put a recording outthere and share the song with a few of my friends, even though, I must admit, my playing was still abit rusty. As I'm writing this, three years later, the video has been viewed 63.546 times and I'vereceived a lot of encouraging comments and emails from all over the world, many asking me for the

sheet music. I've been sending out the lead sheet to those who asked, but thanks to Antonio MartínAranda and his gift of perfect pitch I can now offer you the full transcription.

I would like to thank you for buying this music and if you are one the guys who have beensupporting me on youtube, you should know, that your encouragement is one of the reasons I'vedecided never to let my vibraphone chops get rusty again.

I hope you have great fun with this music.

A note about dampening and phrasing:

The pedal is mostly dampening 1 bar at the time. Note how the pedal is up on the first note of eachphrase. If you press down the pedal really quickly this note will still ring but the previous notes willbe silenced making the phrasing very smooth. The X marks that an individual note should bedampened with a mallet. Using your ears is the best way to determine when and what to dampen. Ican strongly recommend David Friedman's book Vibraphone Technique: Dampening and Pedaling,if you want to improve your dampening technique and thereby your ability to phrase musically onthe vibraphone.

Also, special care should be taken to bring out the melody by playing it at a slightly louder dynamicthan the accompaniment.

Most importantly - have fun with it and make sure to make it your own.
