So you are interested in Baptism?

That means it is a visible, symbolic, action by which God’s grace makes a real change in the world.

Baptism is a sacrament

In baptism one becomes a member of the People of God, the Church.

So what is baptism?

God formed a people for himself by leading the Hebrew people, the descendants of Jacob, out of slavery in Egypt through the waters of the Red Sea.

In the Old Testament…

He lead them through the wilderness and through the waters of the River Jordan into a promised land “flowing with milk and honey”.

Ethnically Hebrew,

Called through the Red Sea and the Jordan,

Marked out by circumcision and keeping the Law.

Would benefit from God’s covenant promises of redemption.

God’s People were…

The Light of the World

God’s People were called to be…

In Jesus’…

We go under water as a sign of dying and rising with Christ.

We join in his resurrection and the eternal life that goes with that.

In Baptism…

We are led through the waters out of slavery to sin and called into the People of God.

In Baptism

We are led out of wandering in the wilderness, through the River Jordan, into the promised land of the Kingdom of God.

In Baptism…

We become a member of God’s people to whom God’s covenant promises of redemption, resurrection, and life eternal apply.

In Baptism…

Ethnically and culturally diverse,

Marked out by faith in Jesus Christ, his life, death and resurrection.

In Baptism we become a People of God who are…

The Light of the World!

In Baptism we become…
