KUB Malaysia Berhad’s (‘KUB’ or ‘the Group’) wholly-owned subsidiary KUBGaz Sdn Bhd (‘KUB Gaz’) today launched two (2) new incoming lique�edpetroleum gas (LPG) trucks by one of its main dealer MAPAC Group (M) SdnBhd (‘MAPAC’) here at Westport, Klang.

With the growing demand of LPG in the domestic and commercial markets,particularly in the central region, the Group is delighted in MAPAC’sinvestment of the new trucks as it signi�es their e�orts in ensuring e�cientdelivery of LPG that would bene�t consumers under its coverage.

“We would like to applaud MAPAC’s initiative of customising these newtrucks with our SOLAR GAS’s logo and theme colour. This is in line with theGroup’s re-branding e�orts which we are currently implementingnationwide,” said Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohd Zin, President/Group ManagingDirector of KUB at the launching ceremony.

“Not only will this increase the SOLAR GAS brand awareness amongst ourconsumers, but it will also further strengthen our position in the country’sLPG market,” he added.

Further to that, in an e�ort to boost SOLAR GAS’s distribution capacity andexpand its market base, the Group is currently constructing a RM10.7million satellite bottling plant located in Hulu Langat. Slated for completionby year-end, the plant is strategically sited in within a high-densityresidential market which will enable the Group to have better geographicalreach currently underserved. The satellite plant is expected to produce anadditional 2,000 metric tonnes LPG per month.

As the LPG business remains as the leading revenue and earningscontributor to KUB, the Group is also looking forward to its medium-termplan to build a LPG refrigerated terminal with a capacity of 50,000 metrictonnes. “We have completed the front end engineering design (pre-FEED)study and currently at the tail end of our Engineering, Procurement,Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) contract bidding stage with ourpartner Mabanaft Pte Ltd. We aim to commence construction in the �rstquarter of 2019, he said.

The day also saw the Group re-introduced its fourteen (14) kilogramcommercial unsubsidised LPG cylinder which is being sold for thecommercial and industry segment. The Group welcomes and fully supportthis enforcement set by KPDNKK recently to avoid the abuse of subsidisedLPG in this sector.

Also, present at the ribbon cutting ceremony was KUB Gaz’s Chairman Dato’Ab Rahim Abu Bakar, KUB Gaz’s Chief Executive O�cer Ahmad Fisal Sha�eand the senior management team from both companies. The event alsomarks KUB’s appreciation and gratitude towards its dealers, who havesupported the Group throughout the years.
