    Safety Precautions Required

    1. PTW is taken from control room.

    2. Ensure Burner tilt position at 50%.

    3. Ensure the use of PPE.

    4. Ensure sufficient light at work place.

    5. Ensure the electrical isolation (removal of electronic card) before

    working.

    6. Ensure the furnace pressure in negative.

    7. Do not run scanner wiring in cable trays or conduit carrying general-

purpose power wiring for motors and lights. When practicable, keep

scanner cables away from igniter transformers and high-energy arc power

pack at the wind box area. All wiring connections should be thoroughly

checked before energizing the scanner circuit. Erroneous wiring may

    damage semiconductors or other components.

    2. Remove frequency card.

    3. Remove Lamp & Meter card.

Frequency of maintenance: Annual Outage / As often required / In case of

    failures.

    WORK INSTRUCTION PROCEDURE

    1. Remove the flame scanner plug & cover it with any cotton cloth.

    2. As when the scanner assembly housing adapter flange is disconnected,

the scanner assembly must be removed from the guide pipe immediately.

So wrap a cloth around the scanner support pipe and hold it firmly

against the cooling air manifold to minimize the escape of cooling air

while the head is being removed. The head should be held in the rag to

protect it from damage. Install the cover plate to retain the cooling

airflow within the scanner guide pipe. Shut off valve must be installed in

    cooling airlines to scanners.

    3. Loosen the three bolts of flame scanner.

    4. Remove from its place safely by two persons.

    5. Mechanical Housing Cover to be tightened immediately.

    6. Ensure Burner tilt position at 50 %.

    7. Bring the safe scanner safely to C&I Lab for calibration.
